Title: Good, Cheap, fast - pick 2...
Post by: The Buddha on January 14, 2005, 02:06:54 PM
Yea you heard that before right ... OK so I have made my choices it looks like ...
Good and cheap yes ... fast ... nope ...
2 months I am waiting for steel to drop in $$$ so I can sell my clip on's ...
I ended up waiting 2 weeks for jets ... waited quite a while for the round pieces ... etc etc ...
So Please dont put extra pressure on me by sending me stuff overnight fed ex and sending me paypal paying the $2 or more to those guys ...
I do stuff slowly. Tommorow doesn't exactly mean tommorow in most cases. I ended up having to order bolts for the exhaust flanges ... so I had to wait till those showed up ... So they went last night ... instead of monday like I said ... I have people that have fedexed me carbs, and I cant order jets cos the store has computers down ... 2 days ... dammit WTF ... but hey they dont charge me shipping and they dont have minimum order limit for the rare items I order ... WTF rare ... Pilots for the GS ... OK so no one dares to swap pilots out ... OK fine. But just bear in mind all this crap I need to navigate ... cos its dirving me to distraction. You send me stuff or pay me via paypal and for 2 weeks I cant do shaZam! ... I feel like a schmuck ...
Cool.

As long as they still protect what they are meant to protect when they get here, I would be happy :).
Title: aaah ... yes...

Oh well ... OK ...
I am like in this little village ... I gave my TV to the best TV repair guy in town ... and he's still fixing it ... and that was in 2003 august ...  :thumb:  ...
So in essence its like the whole town has a total disregard for time ... Yelling at him saying you said it be done last week .... is going to have no effect ...
Powder coating dude ... OK he said we was spraying black sometime ... then somehow he wasn't spraying black then and I am waiting to piggy back on someone's large lot of black and he's like yea I was expecting this big ass thing to come and it didn't ... anyway ... needless to say I cant find the savage guy to make the deal for that today ... So I guess I'm saying I am surprised anyhting even gets done ...
Cool.

Title: That's not the problem
Post by: The Buddha on January 15, 2005, 09:05:02 AM
Oh well ... I think you were one of the last of the lot to buy ... just got lucky ... usually when I say I am making 6 or 5 or whatever ... that's pretty conservative ... stuff breaks, gets tore up in the saw etc etc ... and in spite of all that I will have that number .... if I dont lose as many ... there is more ... You were in time for the finish, and you got one of the extras I presume. Thanks for the compliment though ... Sometimes I feel I have set impossible standards just by luck ... I had to increase the price of the bars after the first lot ... of course I also had to get thinner walled steel and redesign it ... but The lower cost of the 1/8th wall steel made up for the extra $$ I paid my welder, powdercoating added the extra $5 ... but still I kept thinking should I paint it and save that $5 ...
Doing it for the whole forum isn't that hard though ... I wish I had more orders really ... That gives me leverage to strong arm the suppliers and get what we want. Buying small quantities is the worst kind of offence in their book. I take a $1000 job and my welder will dedicate a week or 2 to it and get it done. I take him a $10 job and I get tossed to the bottom of the pile ... as it should be really ... Last year he took up a construction type job and did some guy's roof, then came a few large projects and he was doing them in his shop, so I had him to do the small stuff for me as well ... now looks like he's doing some other outside jobs ... Anyway ...
Cool.

Here in the NY area we dream about living in a town like yours.
Here we rush for good reason and for no reason.  The whole  thing is stupid.  We work long hours to but things that we don't need.  If I get pissed I'm pulling the family and we might wind up being neighbors.
My son loves his dirt bike but won't give up his hockey.
Do you have any hockey rinks around there?
Title: Hockey
Post by: The Buddha on January 15, 2005, 10:31:23 AM
Hockey ... ok to put it in perspective ... we were in the 70's for the last month till couple days ago, today we are prolly going to break 55, and the rest of the week seems to be about that ... which is seasonal normal ... I believe the skating place melted out last week, ski places have no attendance and camp grounds are booked solid ... my neighbor had to back country it with his kids last week ... So Skating ... I dont think so ...
Cool.

Title: Look at it
Post by: The Buddha on January 15, 2005, 12:10:02 PM
Ok then look at it this way ... Right across my house is a 300 foot wide, and maybe 100 feet deep area that has a steep drop of ~ 40 feet and some trees and various puddles of water. My neighbors kids are tearing up that place with their ATV's ... so your kids can dirt bike there all winter long ... you dont even have to go anywhere ... just right outside my front door. Heck this weekend is cold (dont laugh its cold for us) and still there is 4-5 kids running about crazed in my street. Needless to say I have been elected their ring leader. I spent the last 3 hours draining the gas from my 89 ... yea took me 3 hours cos they wanted me to tune their ATV's ...
Cool.
