Title: Farewell to my GS, thanks for the good times!
Post by: cucamonga on January 15, 2005, 12:18:33 AM
Well I traded in my blue 04 GS tonight for a brand-spankin new blue SV650S.

:(  and  :) at the same time...

The GS was a great bike, but it was time to move on to fuel injection and some extra cc's, plus the vtwin sounds oh so smooth. I basically learned how to ride on the GS, first down the driveway a few times, then the street, then the freeway. 13k miles later, many good memories, no regrets.

So if I disappear from this board for a while, I just have to say thanks to all the tech assistance, to Kerry the GS god, Pantablo for the handlebar advice, and everyone else for the fun times!

Take it easy, enjoy every moment...

Since you're in SoCal dont forget to hang at www.socalsvriders.com (assuming you havent discovered it already).

Be careful of the group rides though. There seem to be lots of guys that ride over their limit, moreso than other boards in my experience. You know, brand new riders getting sv650's then hitting Malibu thinking they're Rossi.

[edit-forgot to CONGRATULATE you!]

I just came back from my local dealer.  The sales guy mentioned that he has someone that is buying a DL650.  He is trading in his SV650.  Before that he had a GS500.  He misses the GS500.  Is looking to buy a used ont as a second bike.  I love my GS.  As long as I can keep two bikes the GS will always be one of the bikes.

Congrats, I hope the SV suits you well. The previous owner of my GS had just moved up to an SV when she sold it to me. :-)

Personally... I'm torn for what I want next. Half of me wants a supersport 600, another half of me wants something do-it-all like the GS. I really like the Yamaha TDM900... its like a GS500 on steroids... but alas, not sold here. Maybe I'll try to pick up an old TDM850 and use that for commuting and trips... and get a 600 for trackdays and canyons. Or I'll just keep the GS. I love it so much i dont think I could ever sell it. :)
