Title: GS450 Alloy Wheel Size
Post by: sohcfour on January 19, 2005, 09:16:21 AM
All -

I am new to this site, not actually owning a Suzuki GS. I was hoping that there would be some knowledge about the GS450 from the early 80's on the site here. I have a GT550 two-stroke triple that I am doing a pretty serious cafe job to. A friend of mine offered me his alloy 5-star wheels from an '80 or '81 GS450 twin to use on my project. Unfortuantely, I can find zero information on these wheels. All I really want to know is what size tires they take.

Does anyone know what size tires fit the 5-star alloys off the the 80-81 GS450 Twin?

Thanks,

Matt

If im not mistaken, the early 80 GS's used a 19 Inch front rim and a 16 or 18 inch rear rim as most the general purpose bikes of the 80's did.  mine use 110/90/19 upfront and 130/90/16 rear  on my 82 GS750.

i think the GT550 used much narrower wheels, IF perchance you can, try upgrading Forks and swingarm from a newer bike, this would include newer brakes too.
