I was wondering if anyone out there has an F1s or F1r exhaust on there gs. I want to know if the quality and sound are good and how it performs since no jetting is required. Any help would be great. Thanks
I have one and its total shaZam! ... I'd say that even if there was no wileyco CBR can and flange made by moi alternative ...
Cool.

I have the F1R - it is light, it is loud - The fit between the tapered section and the main tube was loose when new - easily fixed with a few extra pop rivets - which I did when it got loose enough to rattle -
i would give a F for its looks ;)

I used to poo-poo them until I saw and heard one in person. I was impressed. Looks good. Looks "aftermarket" good, not hand-made good. Sounds impressive. Not as loud as a full system but definitely wakes up the little gs.
The F1s looks more "complete" than the F1r due to the fact it has the turned down snout where the r doesnt.
I think its definitely worth it.
I picked up the F1s and I think it is a really good slip-on. I don't really have anything to compare it to because I don't know any other GS owners in my area. I love the way it sounds it has a nice tone to it. Not to loud and very throaty rumble at idle. Rocket riders alway compliment me on my F1s for the sound and look. Some people will rag on it because they have the BIG BUCKS to spend on building a custom pipe and can setup but for someone that has a family to feed and enjoys having money in there pocket would really enjoy the F1s. I did not want to pick one up at first because the critics on this site and on other sites are pretty much split. If I had the option to purchase it again I would not think twice I would do it.
If a loud can is what you are looking for....you know something to piss off the people in the house next door or riding in town get the F1r. It is a loud can....I have one also and pop it on if I want to have a little fun. Both are a good slip-on. :thumb:
can you post some pics?...and maybe a sound clip file??
how much did you buy it for??
also...what model number is it?
I really like mine. I have the F1s and I think its rather good looking. I really like the sound too. I don't know why nobody seems to like this exhuast :dunno: I think it would go great on the F, but I guess I'm the only one.
Hold on i'll find a photo.
Edit, I posted a photo of my exhuast in the WOF. Maybe somebody (Pablo :) ) can help me with a direct link.

[how's that?]
btw-he's removed the large F1s graphic which makes it look tons better.
how much did it cost?
Mine was already on my bike when I bought it :dunno:
But after a quick google i found...
89-98 GS500 S-3078 F1S ALUM SLIP-ON $147.95
Found it here. Not sure if its the best price on the web or not.
http://www.starcycle.com/street/cobra.html
good price...that's 100 bucks less than the V&H....
I have the F1R on mine donated by Adam Wade ... in a swap for my pipe ... anyway wileyco and flange will be right about $110 including shipping, and the wileyco can is a 100 times better than this, and the fit is also easier ...
Cool.
Srinath.
The Wiley Co is a really nice can I can't say one thing wrong about it. I would purchase one but I would have to factor in the cost of re-jetting. That would put you way over the cost for a Cobra Slip-On. I paid $100 new in the box from eBay. The seller was Cycle Gear.com...they might have a few more you might want to check out there web-site and email them. With the Cobra you don't have to re-jet the GS. I will be re-jetting when I get my tax return so that is in the works along with a Kat rear shock and progressive springs. I just went with the Cobra F1s because of price and not having to re-jet with it. I later found after installing it that it was one really good purchase. It really beats the hell out of the stock can. Trust me on this....Pick one up and if you don't like it someone one on eBay or even here on the forums will give you what you paid for it as long as you keep it in like new condition. Then pick up a Wiley Co. when you get your money back. Just remember to re-jet if you get the Wiley Co. :thumb:
I don't have any sound files...I can take a few pics and post them. I have a red 93 GS. I don't know how to do sound files...maybe I should learn how to do that.....
If you didn't want to rejet ... I can choke it off wiht a welded restrictor in the flange ... 70_cam_guy as well as someone else got one of those. The advantage ... if you want to rejet and get the full benifit of the can ... its removeable ... with just a hammer ...
Cool.
Srinath.
I like the wileyco pipe but if that restrictor is added will is make it sound hollow and poppy as a drilled out canister sounds? Also how does it compare to the sound files of the vance and hines on this site? Could yall also get me some pics of where the wileyco attaches onto the pipe and is there any welding required?
A restrictor wont make much difference in the sound ... we are cutting flow not noise ... Ironically those are 2 different things ... I made a device for se7enty7 that cut noise wihtout cutting flow ... OK anyway the restrictor will still leave the sound the same ... compared to V&H ... no real way to tell ... but that V&H sounds more metallic really, the GS Yosh IMHO sounds closer to the wileyco ...
No welding needed for you ... just cut and fit ... I of course weld it up etc ...
Cool.
Srinath.
OK the first post has pics from 70_cam_guy ...

He's painted the flange and mid pipe ... they are steel and stainless steel respectively ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Could you post a pic of the mid pipe and the flange? Also will yours mount farther foward like the red gs in the link or farther back like the black one? Thanks
Ben
I have the F1R. Its pretty impressive actually. Tonight at work the shop technician saw that the rivets had fallen out and put new ones in, then took it in the back and said, "You're bout to see some magic!" He comes out and it looks like he chromed it, I know he didn't cause we don't have a one of those chroming machines. He proabably polished it up with a buffer, but it looks SOO nice. It really sets it off, but I need to wash it and fix it from the wreck I had tonight, plus a new rear tire and some spark plugs. But I think you would be really impressed once you hear it.

In theory it should be just like the red one, Dom - the black one's owner cut the header pipe too long and didn't bother going back in and trimming it I think ... Also remeber each bike could be a bit different ... depening on if the header pipe is bent in or bent out or how tight each of its head exhaust bolts are or any other factors ... so where you fit it has some breathing room.
Now the next lot of flanges are going to be a bit looser fit at the slip on connection ... so you have ample freedom ... you might have to stuff some exhaust tape in the middle to seal it up too ...
Cool.
Srinath.
How much will it be for the flange and midpipe? Also how much for shipping? I live in longview TX. 2 hours east of Dallas. Thanks
Ben
Mine will actually be about another 1/2" forward, my stock header pipe will be trimmed just a little more before I weld the adapter on this weekend.

Srinath,
I will be needing one with a restrictor plate installed. Because I dont have the money for jets. Sorry Tdan I need one with a restrictor.
Ben
That's Ok, I'm not planning on making them. Flanges are Srinath's gig. I just like to see if I can do things myself before buying from someone.
Hey 94suzuki500,
I guess shipping should be ~$10 or so USPS ... flange is $40 ... and send me a check ... cos it might be a week or 2 before I finish them. I need to have most of the 6 sold before I start them ... I dont want to have lots of $$$ tied up in them ... If I sell only 3-4 I'll make just 3 or 4 ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Srinath
Alright sounds cool and good on the price. Will I need the 93-95 cbr900rr pipe or the 96-97 cbr900rr canister? I will buy a midpipe and flange from you if you make it before I send payment as I do not want my money sitting around while it is being made. Also will a money order be good for a check. Thanks
Ben
Check is fine ... I wont cash it till you get the part ...
Get a 96-97 CBR one we are certain that will fit... the 93-95 most likely is the same thing ... but I haven't got on in the past so I am not 100% ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Alright sounds good. But I hope you havent started making one yet cause my dad says he wants to know about the restrictor. He said that I cant buy one till he gets a pic of the restrictor in place. Sorry about this, I am only 17 so my dad wants to check out what I am buying. You can send the pic to big-ben13@juno.com . Sorry about this. Thanks
