Title: stripped oil plug

I have a stripped out oil plug on my girlfriends gs500.  what is the best quick fix?   thanks

An easy out... but get a new bolt first...

More then likely you stripped the threads on the pan since its aluminum so you will need to take the pan off to fix it or replace it with another pan.  If you keep yours you can drill it out, tap it with new threads, and then pick up a plug for your new hole, this will take some pretty decent mechanical knowledge and some tools.  Oh and dont forget to order a new oil pan gasket.

I would think I could tap the pan on the bike.   I would just have to find a drain plug the next size up and flush the pan with some oil to get out any alum chunks that my be in the pan,  but most of the alum will be pulled out with the tap.

all fixed just got a over sized 14mm  drain plug from the part store.  fixed for 3.50  :thumb:
