Title: Leaking oil. Dealer says it excess oil
Post by: Lalo on January 21, 2005, 07:53:52 PM
Took my 2004GS500F to the dealer for the initial service at 660 miles.  About 2 wks. later at 1200 miles, after parking and stopping the bike, found the bike leaking oil from a small black tube.  Called the dealer.  He said it would leak oil from the breather tube if it has too much oil.  I told him I have never added oil to the bike.  He said thats the only thing that would make it realease oil.  The oil level is at a little below the FULL line and it still leaks oil.  Should I be concerned?  I'm checking the oil the way the manulal says to.  Also, how much oil does it take to go from the bottom oil line to the top FULL line?

Your dealer should have changed the oil in that 600 mile first service, I would only worry about it if it's still happening in another two weeks.

More like blow by ... shouldn't be a lot ... overfilling doesn't actually get in there too much ... watch the gaskets if you did overfill though ...
Cool.

I get it on and off.  Now it's mostly off.  Just keep an eye on the oil level.  The tube is there for that purpose.  Just squeeze it from time to time to get the oil out,  if you don't it will come out on it's own and get on the bike.
