Title: Wileyco's down to the last 9
Post by: The Buddha on January 23, 2005, 03:14:46 PM
http://stores.ebay.com/DK-Trader_Metric-Bike-Exhaust_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQpZ2QQsclZallQQsotimedisplayZ2QQtZkm

They got only 9 ... can be slip fitted to the GS with a flange and mid pipe I make. Total cost ... $40 and shipping for flange and mid, $50 and shipping for muffler. Under $110. And excellent quality can to boot. Thick and 100% stainless.
Cool.

sooo...are you sending those flanges out? :thumb:
Title: Wait a sec ...
Post by: The Buddha on January 23, 2005, 11:16:05 PM
I am yet to start making flanges. I want to be done with those. Running around for the round things and SS pipe and muffler chop etc is pretty frustrating when you dont have a count. My goal is to know how many flanges need making and make exactly that and be done.
And about them getting more ... yes I thought so since august. Yet to see any. I bought them from a different place BTW and they only had the 9 of whihc they had one in a ebay auction and I bought the rest. They never got any more. This stuff is obsolete.
Cool.

Title: Down to 6
Post by: The Buddha on January 23, 2005, 11:24:46 PM
Whoo hooo down to 6 ... I dunno why I am cheering. I dont get to buy one of these being broke and unemployed ... but it does mean I dont have to keep making flanges ... so whooo hooo ...
Cool.

Just bought one. Now all I need is a flange, so srinath how much and how long to get on of your special flanges?
Title: next week ...
Post by: The Buddha on January 28, 2005, 12:10:10 PM
I'll start on it next week, send a check and I'll have one for you for sure. I only want to make asmany as people need ... I dont plan on having a bunch lying about after ... cos once they sell out on these ... the flanges are useless ... so I dont want to have money tied up in it.
Cool.
Srinath.

Cool, how much is it and where do you want me to send the check? Also I don't plan on rejetting right now so could you throw in one of those restrictors that can be taken out when I rejet?
Title: Oy crap ..
Post by: The Buddha on January 29, 2005, 01:21:15 AM
Oh crap ... is this good or bad ... I dont know ...
from 9 they went to down to 6 and now there is like 14 ... OK if I get a job I am snagging one of thse for myself ... OK that's good, but that also means I'll be making flanges for ever ... good lord that is bad ...
Cool.

Post by: The Buddha on January 29, 2005, 03:35:07 PM
Yikes there's 20 now ... damn I am never going to stop making these flanges am I ... anyway I'll start on it next week, if I run out of round things I'll go try to buy some more ... I might have to go to steel pipe in future.
Cool.

Damn could of waited 1 more day and got a brand new one without any scratches :x  Just my luck, oh well at least I went ahead and bought one.
Title: Dude
Post by: The Buddha on January 29, 2005, 06:40:45 PM
Slow down the beating up of yourself ... the new ones are also scratched up ... doubt they had any at any time that weren't ... I doubt wileyco even makes un scratched ones        ...
The new ones must have been ones that people bought and flaked out on paying ... so nothing "new" about them ...
Cool.

Title: Down to eight now...
Post by: jessright on January 31, 2005, 12:48:58 AM
I just ordered one.  They are down to eight now.  I definitely want a flange.  Now,  the question is...   with, or without restricter plate?

I am thinking of rejetting (Dynojet) and K&N filter.  I think i read something negative about the Dynojet on the GS...

Anyone done this?  What is your experience?

I think i may be able to get away with just adding a washer?

Also...  how loud is this can?   I just read something that makes me fearfull that i may not be able to get out of my driveway quitely early in the morning...  Is it Sick loud????

Thanks,  Jess

Wow man what did you do to that poor dennis Kirk man ... they have 20 now ... dude ... you broke ebay man ...

Oh I replied to your PM ... but that ckoker plate is going to be louder than the plain flange and muffler ... yea I know how is it possible ... but it is ... cos its not a baffle ... its a freaking square metal plate in it ... so loud. They muffler itself is not that loud. I've seen far worse.
Cool.

Is your flange bolt on?  Or will I need to have it welded?

I can't tell from this previous thread.

What jets to use for this set up:

#40 pilots.
125 main.
#4 washer.

Correct?

Title: Great
Post by: The Buddha on February 04, 2005, 01:35:16 AM
OK Great ... now there is over 30 and more than that there was a couple that weren't scratched or dented as per their description ...
On a side note ... I got 3 payments and 6+ that I can make with the material I have ... My goal is to be done with the flanges soon ... looks like it might not happen ... but anyone that's needing a flange please send me $$ cos when the 3 more are sold ... no telling when I'll make more ... cos round things aren't there ... I'll have to find them ...
Cool.

There was no defect in the can I got.  There was what could be considered a scratch, about a 1/4 inch long, on the side that faces the wheel.   So, big deal.  For $50?  I'd say I stole it.

just installed mine on my '04.

sounds good.   midpipe was a little bit of a hassle to install.  it was actually hitting the brake lever and i had to finaggle it a little bit.

this sounds much better than stock.
Title: Its not hitting now
Post by: The Buddha on February 07, 2005, 02:38:14 PM
Its not hitting now right ... The slip fit actually doesn't let it turn unless you have the can on and the bolts loose and you have a long rod inbetween the bolts and use that leverage ... but tight fit is needed else it will leak there ... anyway its not hitting now right ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Title: Wileyco's down to the last 9
Post by: Jake D on February 07, 2005, 02:48:58 PM
Minds eye:

Ah, I get it. . . put the can on, very loose, slip fit the mid-pipe.  Bolt can to flange, very loose. . .

Slide long rod/lever between can and flange and use bolts to rotate mid-pipe like a clock, sealing the fit of the mid pipe.

Correct?
Title: Probably ....
Post by: The Buddha on February 07, 2005, 02:56:58 PM
Fit the can to mid pipe and position it and finnagle it ... now once you're sure the position is right ... Remove the can, knock the flange in with a mallet ... and bolt can back in ... OR wait a sec ... the ones I am making now are going to fit loose ... you position it etc and get it all lined up and make a chalk mark, then remove it and slip on the small piece of pipe I have in it ... and now it will fit tight ... Yes I made a small mod to the design ... the pipe fits loose on the header, but there is a small pipe that fits on the header and takes up the slack ... you'll know when you get it.
Also people many times forget to sand the short piece they are slipping on ... its gotta have some wd 40 and be smoothly sanded ... then the mid pipe will slip on and rotate with a little effort. Anyway ... the new ones should go on easier ... they are larger ID ... just wait and see ...
Cool.

how would you guys rate your increase in hp/power with the wileyco installed  compared to stock? i plan to get one before they sell out and before Srinath runs out of flanges. hehe! i just wanna know what you guys (with it installed) think about this wileyco can. i guess compared to stock and other after market pipes w/ stage1 rejet. i know without a dyno it's impossible to know for sure, so go by the "seat of your pants" feel. thanks!

I'm not planning on rejetting right away either, but I'm glad to hear that is does add some seat of the pants.

Title: Wileyco's down to the last 9
Post by: weaselnoze on February 23, 2005, 10:45:35 AM
well there is a way around it.  i have a wileyco slip on.  srinath makes a flange and midpipe so it is possible to fit this can onto the GS.  if u ask him to, he can put a restrictor plate on the flange, at no extra cost, so you dont have to rejet.  if/when u decide to rejet just knock off the plate with a hammer and bingo!

yeah i'm gonna sport everything from the box once i get that can on........not! maybe i'll use the key chain. i tried on the hat and it looks goofy on me. i just finished rejetting and no more dead spots!! whoohoo!!! thanks to everyone for making it so easy. i did have to use a reverse bit to get the mains out. i shredded the first one and it's worthless now. BTW, Srinath I just sent you payment thru PayPal for the flange.

The exhaust I got is spotless, no dents and no scratches. My boss is gonna sandblast all the old paint and rust from my current pipe for a case of beer. its gonna be sweet!!! i almost don't want to ride till i get everything done just so i could see the difference. nah!!!  you're right, average, sleepless nights. my hands were already shaking just putting in the new jets.
Title: What
Post by: The Buddha on March 01, 2005, 11:16:00 PM
You had to use a left handed drill to get your mains out ... OK that's never happened to me ... The key is ... Vice ... you need a moindo flat panel vice with a chunk of car tire inserted in the jaws ... Grip it and not slip but at the same time not have metal jaws eating the carb ... Then nothing will stand in your way ... Of course it could have been pre chewed ... so you are SOL ...
Cool.

i shoulda said screw extractor instead of reverse bit. the spiral is cut so that instead of drilling in when its turned clockwise(right) it drills in when you turning it counterclockwise (left). they come in different sizes just like drill bits do. they're also tapered.  just ask for a screw extractor. but then the guys at home depot should've known what you were talking about. i hate that!!

I use left handed drills ... bought at autozone ... they drill in with the drill running in reverse ... aka the unscrew direction, usually by the time I get 1/2 way in the head of the screw its spinning out  ... neat ...
Cool.
