I just snagged this on e-bay, the back of the darn thing is worth 33 bucks on ron ayers, and I can use the front half also (it's like 45 or so I think)

15 bucks, I was the only bid

both pieces were damaged when I got my bike last may, (previous owner dropped it) so I've had the ghetto taped thing hidden under a cheap windscreen for all this time...  now I gotta consider whether I'm gonna keep the windscreen or go naked.... I've gotten used to having it now.

Quite a good trade! When I search ebay, I generally use just "GS500" and get a good response. But then I only search in the titles.

I need to add item description to my hunting list now.

It looks in good shape. Take the harness off, the metal off, and give it a nice warm sudsy bath in the kitchen sink. Rinse with warm water, towel/sling dry, spray it down with Lemon Pledge, wipe off the excess and it will look like new!

Good deals can be found.  :thumb:

I would say what words I use for my searches, but then I would be hurting myself.  ;)
I have bought case covers for $5 and the best deal was a front wheel for $1, shipping was $19 but still worth it for a straight wheel.

I was a little shocked by how it was packaged or shall I say lack of. Good thing I did not care about the paint.

Yeah I am sure he wanted more than $1 for it.    I was a little pissed when I saw how it was packaged. That is why I took this pics before even toughing it. The first thing I did was to spin it for trueness. It spun perfect! Got a perfect front wheel for $20. I will be painting it silver so I did not care about the paint.

D, that was a good deal even though the packaging was way less than optimum. Reminds me of some Triumph (car) parts I bought last year. The dude took the rims and just wrapped them in stretch wrap plastic to the tune of about 1/4 inch thick and slapped a label on it. Both rims were that way.

Same deal for all the suspension components. Nothing was screwed up but it still seemed a little thin to me. One major drop on concrete and I would have had a bent lip and a bad attitude.

I picked up a front wheel and rotor, no tire, for $40 from tshirt racer in NC. (Collecting parts for the spare frame for a future project.) It was packed up just fine along with another item I bought. He's a square trader and cares about the stuff he sends out.

Good to know, I'm awaiting a sprocket from tshirtracer right now!
