Just curious to know how many have gone down on this forum? And add a little story about it too if you want...

The mods would probably delete the thread if I told a little story about one of the times I went down.

Which one? The first time when I was out blow drying my hair, or the just recent 70mph stupid one?

once. Wet bailey bridge, wood is slippery when wet. Fell at 50mph, slid, got up, chased the bike trying to pick it up again and get a running start lol.. noticed I broke my visor on my helmet, just picked up the bike, put it on the side of the roadm, laughed a bit waiting for the group to turn around, started her up, borrowed sunglasses, rode 150 miles back home with a bent bike   .

play by play

My bike went down without me on it! There was a storm, so to stop my pride and joy getting wet I put the cover over it and tied it on. Cover acted like a sail in the wind and over she went. I didn't find out until the next morning by which time the battery had leaked all its acid over the bike :(

Right handle bar was knackered, generator cover too plus the bit of metal that sits over the top yoke (and you don't want to know how much Suzuki charge for that :o It was daylight robbery).

Only time I ever fell on a bike and was mildly hurt(I've ridden dirt bikes since I was a kid and fell all the time way back when) was when I bought a XL600r and was doing donuts in the gravel parking lot behind my work and trying to show off for my girlfriend...well I gunned it and the front tire slipped on the gravel and I ended up on the gravel with some rocks in my hand and knee and the bike laying on my leg.  Well, my leg was a little stiff for the next few days...doh!

Well, there have been other threads about this. Once someone didn't stop at a red light while I was crossing on the green light, I couldn't break for the surprise and hit the car on the left side, it made me fly and the bike spin, the fork got twisted, I just got a scratch on the back cause the jacket pulled up. Other time a "lady" suddenly made a U turn in fron of me, couldn't stop and hit her car at 40mph on the right side and slide for... 30 meters??? no injuries, fork slightly bent, rode home and met some friends to watch Mad Max. Third time, a cab hit the GS on the rear tyre as I was slowing down to make a slow right-turn, stupid cab driver! TCP fairing damaged, the garage holded the bike 5 weeks, knee ugly scratched, hip knocked... had a long healing, and then crashed the car and extended the healing period...

Here's my crash story, I was dirt biking at a friends and we had made our own ramps that had to be re-aligned after each jump and my friend forgot to fix the jump after he went over it so I was going over it and the front  tire got stuck and threw me off and the bike landed on top of me with the kick stand going into my leg...we werent wearing any gear either as we were in NewZealand and everyone there is"tough"/the don't sue everyone for everything.

Well, three, with me on the bike. All moving so slowly as to be pretty much stationary. Also, they all happened in my first 2 weeks of riding. Stupid n00b mistakes.

The first time I tried backing my bike down my inclined driveway and turning it around, I fumbled the bike and dropped it on its left side, and banged my knee up in the process. Have kind of a scar from that one.

The second time, (about three days later), I was attempting to surmount a sidewalk curb to park on a patch of concrete outside a friend's house (where he parked his bike, usually). Thing is, I lacked the throttle control at the time to a) compensate for the shock of going over the curb, and b) not over-do it. Anyway, I went up the curb, used too much gas, got freaked out, and dropped the bike on its side, in the grass. No damage.

The last time, I was pulling out of work, onto Powell St in Downtown SF. It was about 1:00 AM, no one was around, and it was foggy/wet. Anyway, I was at full right steering lock, turning downhill onto powell, at way to low a speed... I hit the wet cable car tracks in the middle of the lane, and plop went the bike. Doh.

The bike received only the tiniest of scratches, and other than that cut on my knee, I was fine every time. Like I said, all stupid mistakes. -_-

Riding MX since I turned 8 on varying degrees of MX bikes, '77 XR75, '94 CR80R, 97 KDX200, 99 YZ125, 99 YZ400, 01 YZ426F, 04 YZ250F.

While on the YZ, I cased a double which was about 50 feet lip to lip, was wearing a chest protector and full gear cuz I was racing local AMA at the time, didn't know it at the time, but my docs later guessed that that incident caused some blockage in my interior veina cava, which is in your lower chest.  That blockage, combined with some other factors, led to me being laid up for a full month and 4 or 5 days beyond that getting treatment for full on clotting in both of my legs.  A year later, had some more, so I went back into the hosp. for another 2 weeks.  Been clean since then, but I'm flying back to MN in February to have another ultrasound and general checkup done at the UMN Fairview hospital.

Total bill?  250K, after that they stopped sending the billing information, so we dont' really know how high it got.

I guess a week in ICU with 3 or 4 daily transfusions of blood and plasma, plus 2 teams of the best docts in the nation in their fields spending half a day each day for a month on your case gets pretty expensive...

Thank whatever GOD you believe in for insurance and the fact that I'm still here and able to walk, talk, do much of anything.  Add in that I'm almost back to 100%, and you've got a great story kids!!!

Sheesh - compared to some of THIS stuff, my 45mph cow broadside and my two low-mph drops on ice and snow seem pretty pale....  :o

ok I had to think about this a while, I got a few to remember,
3 scca rally crashes
1 quad flip doing 55 went through a barbed wire fence
1 dirt bike low side

GS mistakes
1 in the parking lot  day 1 turning left low side 25 mph, found the gravel  lots of blood and rash.
2 a month later first 12 o'clock 45 mph new crankshaft, right side of motor.
3 15mph in gravel drive way nothing major
4 turning around on the interstate, was too close to the edge and the asphalt broke under the bike, nothing broke.
5 playing in the mud with the trucks, rear tire fell in a rut, bike fell over
6 puting bike away for the winter, fell over nothing major.
