Title: Exhaust options...
Post by: roguegeek on January 31, 2005, 09:06:21 AM
As a 97 GS owner, what full exhaust options do I have for myself? What are the estimated prices for each? What kind of performance increases am I looking at?

Also, what other small performance add-ons can be done to my GS with relatively little work? Thanx a bunch.

Search!

You will see Vance & Hines as the most common.

akrapovic has an exhaust for the gs now.  It cost more than I am willing to pay for a gs used.

I know they list it, alot of sites do. but they infact DO NOT make it. I contacted akrapovic front their website. Here is what he wrote.

"Dear Sir,

As you have already found out, we do not produce an exhaust system for this bike. Probably the exhaust system fits the 600 GSF but that is something we can not confirm.
Unfortunately, the exhaust system for this bike is not in the plan for near future.

Best regards,

Ales Hrovatin"

There you have it. :thumb:

....that being said, I wouldn't buy from a company that doesn't know what they make....

....you know what I mean?  It's just stupid to create a part # for an item that does not / has not ever existed.  It just doesn't produce a lot of confidence in their organization....

...I'm not knocking their pipes...I know they're nice....but sometimes you just gotta call a spade, a spade.....

did you even go to the starcycle.com site and look (like I've mentioned in my last 2 posts in this thread?

Hey srinath,

If i had heard the tone of the V&H I would be able to tell you. I havent heard anything else regarding just a re-badging, but its something to look into. It sounds excellent on my bike with pods and jets w/ advancer. But I only have my buddy's stock drilled exhaust to compare it to. Let me know what you turn up on this if you can.

OK I looked at those pics in Mk1incali's page ... and they dont look alyhitng like the V&H's ... BTW Yours is quite a bit low ... is there a reason why its that low ...
Cool.
Srinath.
