Title: Slight Problem...(High beam indicator light/cover)
Post by: Daniely on February 01, 2005, 09:16:49 AM
Well, I have heard the stories over the last few months of people loosing the High Beam indicator light cover. Well, My bike is being sold next week, and so im workin on it putting it back to stock for the buyer. Now, on the way to work this morning, the cover flew off somewhere on hwy 99. I didnt notice until I got to work, and my High beam bulb went out apparently too. So basically, I have tomorrow night to get this fixed for the buyer, so what can I do? Where can I get the bulb/cover to fix this? I have the manual so I can do it myself, no problem there since im farily mechanically inclined. However, i do not know where to get the parts. Thanks ahead of time!

I think I heard a horror story about somebody that had to buy the whole set and it ended up costing them like $100.  :?

To everybody else... a $3 tube of superglue is cheap insurance...

bah, that sucks. I knew the beam indicator cover was loose, and I planned on fixing it tonight while putting my new pipe and stuff back on. But i lost it today on the way to work. That sucks, time to hit the hardware store and see what will work.

also check radio shack.. their led's... some are in plastic cases...  you can probably cut the plastic case apart and use that... that's what I'd do anyway

Ditto...I remember seeing a bunch of 12v red, green, and blue indicator lights in one of the drawers there...you could drill out the hole that your high beam goes in and insert the new light.  :dunno:

Radio shack doesn't have any mini blue light assemblies on their website.  :(  Red, green, amber, but no blue...

dammit, why did this have to happen right when I sold the bike? How hard is it to get in there and change the bulb? Or splice into the wires and replace it with that other light? I know Pep boys has a blue one, its nto LED, but its similar in design to the others.

Excellent idea, except for 2 reasons:

1. The buyer frequents this board and posts alot, lol

2. I have this little voice in my head that goes INSANE every time i even think about doing something wrong. Go figure eh?

That looks REALLY close to the 01 if not a perfect match. Just a different color than mine.

They are just painted a different color. It's the same piece .

Why not just get the blue lens you need?
Wasn't one of the racers (Dgyver) offering you one   (bent up piece but lenses ok...and a bulb..)????
