Title: douro tires
Post by: pixelmonkey on February 03, 2005, 04:40:44 PM
well, i was wanting to have new tires on the 96 before selling it. *it's one of the 2 bikes i'll have for sale this month* i knew an ebay deal like i came across for the 92 wasnt likely going to happen any time seeon *new michellin front and back for $62 delivered*

so i checked in douro tires.

after seeing them in person, i have to say I'm impressed! nice tread layout and nicely curved rear, and the front followed a close tire tread, but lacked a little of the curve the rear had. *keep in mind i only viewed them for a minute, and they werent installed on my wheels yet!*

i will have these tires back saturday and i'll be taking photos of them on up close and installed on the bike. i wont have a rider review for atleast a couple of weeks thought, as i'm not wanting to take the bike out for a road test until i have everything up to par.

just fyi

i leave it for the local cycle shop. $5 a tire isnt worth my head ache to do.

they also take care of ballencing them.

:o Where have you been? I've put a couple of posts up about Duro tires even this one recently http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14831 No one ever seems to respond to them tho. I have a Duro rear tire on my bike right now and have its replacement (nail) arriving tomorrow. I put several thousand miles on my old one even went from Mobile, AL to Grand Rapids, MI on it. I had a Metzler Z2 on there before so thats my only other comparision. It wore pretty evenly and has a nice agressive tread on it. Stays nice and steady on the highway but still lets you get pretty low in the turns. I have a Metz Z4 in the front BTW. (Z4 front and Z2 back i think it goes?) Overall not a bad tire for the $$$. The battleax was way too much damn $$$ for my taste.

I just went all out and bought some Metzler Z6's for my bike.  I was gonna go cheapo again but decided since I spent the money on a bandit wheel I might as well use it.
