I got my bike yesterday and she's a real sweetie. It's not a GS500, but rather a Kawasaki EX500, so I still have to get my GS fixed. Sweet deal though. It's a '95 with only 5k miles on it, a girl owned it and it was garage kept. She was asking $1900 for it but when I got there, she noticed that the fuel chicken had a busted gasket and it was spitting fuel out. She dropped it to $1700 because of that. The bike is IMMACULATE with a few blemishes caused by the bike cover she used. The also had all the maintenace records for it.
As is happens, I have a EX500 parts bike sitting in my garage next to my GS500. I told her I would think about it and call her later (I had a Katana 750 to look at as well). On the way to look at the katana, I called my 12year old son and asked him to go out and remove the fuel chicken from the parts bike. He did a bang up job for me.
The katana was a bust, it was ugly and the guy selling it was came across kinda slimey, it just didn't "feel" right. The EX500 felt right so I called her and said we'd be by in a few to pick it up. I grabbed the valve from my son, ran over to her house and replaced the gasket that was blown. Yeah, I know you aren't supposed to re-use gaskets but the new one will be here this week, and it's holding.
I did pick up a new lid and a Joe Rocket jacket on sale for 50% off. I got it for $160.
She also threw in her jacket which fits my wife great. My wife was thrilled.
So anyway, the breakdown is this.
-EX500
-Black leather Bike jacket
-2 lids
-Joe Rocket jacket
All for right around 2k
I'll post pics as soon as I can find my camera.
