Title: what is highest rpm you are comfortable cruising at?
Post by: se7enty7 on February 06, 2005, 07:00:58 PM
70mph is about 6k or so for me... maybe 6300... that's about as high as I am comfortable with.  I might shoot up to 80-85 to pass, then back to 70.

Problem is... around here... old grandma's are going 75+... I'd get killed if I hopped on the highway... might have to get a smaller rear sprocket..

I cruise with the traffic. Usually about 80 indicated. Whatever RPM that is is fine with me. I don't think I'd want to cruise at over 8k RPMs.

I would cruise at between 6 and 7k. I'll jump it up to 8 when feeling froggy off a stopsign, but I wouldn't cruise any higher than 7

since I droped the front sprocket 70mph is about 7k.
I usually ride at 6500-8500rpm's, and have no problem letting her rip at 9500 for a while.
Usually for extended periods (5 miles or more)

ask some of the racers on here.  Someone said that they did an endurance race on their GS500, around 10k for some number of hours.  :-)

Usually I'll ride somewhere between 6k and 7k (70-80mph) for 2hours every friday. :thumb:

What ever you can dish out...she can take it.

I've put 10k or so on my 2000 model now, it has 18.5k total miles.

I ride above posted highway speeds for 70-80 miles a day at 8.5k, sometimes higher.

No problems... It can take it
