Title: Re-Keying a bike...

What do i have to do? The guy i bought my CBR from accidentally broke the key off in the gas tank yeterday. I need a whole new ignition cause he took it apart to start the bike. ANyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

well, ive got the title, ive got half of the key, and the other half is still in the gas tank, lol. So its legit, no worries.

If the tank is un locked ... I will open the lock mechanism, take the key out, put it together with the other 1/2 and Put the 2 pieces in a manual key cutting machine and cut a key ... most likely will work ... did it on my GS a long time ago ...

hey when I broke my key off in the seat lock,
I brought in the pieces and they made my keys from it.
Gets kind of stickey like once in a while though.

not sure what all he broke, i can see an indent to a brass piece. I think im just gonna hit the dealership on wednesday and see how much its gonna cost, then go from there.

If you are going to the Stealer, then look in the Manual that came with the bike. Alot of times you can find a page with a key number. that will let the dealership make a key for you.

Well, i just said fug it and went with orignial honda parts, rather than those, mainly cause i didnt get a spare and dude seemed a little shady. So anyways, $150 out the door for ignition, gas cap, and seat lock keys, plus the ignition assembly. Not to bad, they had to order it though, should have it by friday. Thanks for all the input.
