Title: So I quit my job today....
Post by: Eisenfaust on February 15, 2005, 06:29:05 PM
...because I've been offered a position at a local motorcycle shop!

Starting in about 2 weeks or so, I should be working at Golden Gate Cycles here in San Francisco. I'll get more hours, more pay, and the opportunity to work in the city's Suzuki / Honda / Kawasaki / Yamaha dealership.. plus its quite laid back. I cant wait! :-)

The job itself seems very cool, the people are great.. plus, I should be able to get a killer deal on a new bike when its time to upgrade. :)

The enemy, eh? I guess.. but I'll just be selling gear. :-p

Unless you're referring to the ancient Scuderia vs. Golden Gate Cycles vs. Marin Cycleworks debate. I love Scuderia, but I cant even get parts for my GS through them.

Nope I am referring to the fact that all dealers are the hand puppets of Satan ...  :x  :x  :x

when my sister bought her kawa, the dealer wanted to sell her the one on the floor.  She said no. i want one assembled w/ 0 miles on it.  they gave her so much hell that she hadda copy down the vin number on the bike on the floor to make sure it didnt match the bike they gave her.  IMO she's too picky but still...

Hell, I'd want a bike with 0 miles on it too.

Dealerships are kind of bad, in a sense, but new bikes have to come from somewhere.

Dealerships make their killings on uneducated consumers. Knowing what you want and how to get it is the key to surviving the whole dealership process.

Besides that, though.... since I'm not a mechanic, if I want a job working with bikes, or in some field relating to motorcycles, this is kinda the only way to go. :-p

If you're on BARF, I wouldn't advertise working for Golden Gate...  GGC is not what you would call popular, sortof akin to GP Sports in San Jose

But congrads on the new job! :thumb:

Scuderia has the rep as being the 'cool' shop.

I know GGC has a bad rep, but I really dont know why. Granted, I've never bought a bike from them, but at the same time, I've never had anything but good service, and their prices on gear and parts are in line with everyone else's in the city.
