Look out world -- Kerry's actually creating a frivolous message thread!
I hatched a nutty idea while looking at some of my recent pictures. If the thread dies on the vine I'll understand, but I thought I'd at least give it a shot.
I'll start.
Can you identify what this is a picture of? I'll wait for a few guesses before posting the full-context picture. If anybody gets it right, they'll be IT. (Their turn to post a photo.)
I like this stuff. :thumb:
Dirty snow? The inside of an ash tray? A sand of some sort? The macro lens blur on the bottom tends to mean it was shot very close to the subject. I'm guessing whatever it is, it's very small.
You're kinda-sorta close on one of your guesses.
I won't say which one.
i stared at it for 5 minutes and got a headache.. i give up.
Is it a close-up of navel lint?
sand is my guess...
closeup of snow on road/driveway?
Oh oh! This is like one of those pictures in the mall. If you squint, you'll see a sailboat or something.
frost
pluto's surface
How about a close up of all that salt that exists in Kerry's home state of Utah. :dunno:
:dunno:
close up of aluminum garbage can
Im gonna go out on a limb and say an amplified pic of the surface of Titan.
give us a general theme...

Sandstone rock.

Sorry to leave you guys hanging - I had to attend a funeral this morning. :(
It was really too funny that the following plea came from
Frost of all people:

Here is the full-context shot that the original was cut from:

And here it is from another angle. It was almost a shame to have to scrape it off....

I guess you're up, Ed. Did you get yourself a digital camera yet?
wow...i would never have guessed frost in a million years... that pic almost look surreal...
how did it get that cold in UTAH??
Don't forget - I live at an altitude of 4800 feet (1500 meters?). I guess you'd call this a "high desert". If you don't think it can get cold in the desert, think again! :)
Quote from: KerryI guess you're up, Ed. Did you get yourself a digital camera yet?
Who woulda thunk a guy from the (almost) desert would guess it. :dunno: I got a crummy digital, but I'll bet I can come up with something. I'll post / e-mail Kerry a pic when I get home.

antarctica is a desert
just a little fyi
I submitted my pic to Kerry!
It may be too easy, or it may be too hard. :dunno:
Ed, rather than send you the URL I thought I would just go ahead and post it for you. Here it is:

Cactus...the poor little bumps onna cactus. Luv the Baby G and the forum.
C.......
I took a walk after work, with my camera. Well, gee, what do I see, this being Arizona and all... a prickly pear cactus.
Cernunos, you got it. I knew it would be either too easy or too hard. You're up next. :thumb:
No, I don't think it was too easy, the hilarious thing is I was just thinking about a cactus because on TV there was this Cowboy movie and some dude had just blown the top off of a cactus with a rifle. I clicked on the thread and ran down to Ed's pic and...lo and behold...there's the little prickly bumps onna cactus  Ok, I'll have to wait till Bebe get's home to post my pic 'cause I don't know how to do it  . (And they had me running an engineering dept. with Ford Motor Co....hmmmm, maybe that's why the Fairmont never was such a big hit) But I think I know what I'll post as the pic. I'll fire it off as soon as she gets home. Lovin' the bike and the forum...and this thread is fun too.
C.......
next next!
Sorry Weaselnose, Bebe get's home in two hours. I bet if you were an animal you would be a Siberian Husky...impatient, smart and full of surprises. Love my Baby GS500 and the forum.
C.......
:icon_confused:
ya but they can be naughty too. a friend of mine has 3 of them. the one attacks strangers while they sit on the couch (climbs up the back of the couch and crawls on ur head). the other steals socks and hides them behind the fridge, under the couch etc. the other one hides food around the house! not good when u find a stash!

As a mechanic for a lot of years, boy would I be interested in what goes on in the minds of some of your ex-department.... Got any good stories about designs that didn't make the cut? Care to answer a few "What the F were they thinking" questions? That would be an interesting off-topic topic! :thumb:
Ok, I sent an E-Mail to Kerry (Sorry Kerry but you started the darn thing) with my puzzle pic. Maybe somebody can show me how to post the things myself? Ah yeh Commuterguy there's all kinds of weird crap people come up with and a lot that don't work. I remember the Tempo always being such a slug with the little 2.3 4 cyl engine and I wondered why powertrain and chassis development never put some spunk into it. I was talking about this with one of the PT engineers and he said something like "hey we could put the SHO motor in it ha ha", like it was some kind of joke. About six months go by and he comes to me wanting me to work up some durability testing for some new throttle and speed-control assemblies. I asked him what they were for and he just grinned and told me they were going to try and shoe-horn the 3.0 six into the temp. I thought, WOW, a Tempo with the 3.0 Yamaha SHO motor! But it turned out it was just the old iron-head push-rod six like used in the Ranger and Base-Six Taurus. Still, those things ran pretty good and if you can ever find a Tempo GLS with the 3.0 you'd be surprised how well they run. Give a Z-24 fits for sure. But they just made a handful of them...they didn't sell very well and the bottom line is money. BTW, would you believe if I told you the actual NET profit/vehicle for Ford in 1990 was around 30 dollars US? Funny that a lot of people think car makers make thousands of dollars per vehicle...the dealer is the one who makes high profits on each vehicle. But when you consider that Ford makes vehicles by the hundreds of thousands it comes out pretty good. Love the bike and the forum.

to post a pic, you need to have an online hosting account (I use village photos) once you upload the photo to your account, you go there and click on the photo. scroll down to underneath, and you should see a link for public viewing or direct viewing choose the direct viewing (should start with img or image) copy that link and paste it in your post. the proper format to post directly is (//paste%20the%20link%20here)
Kerry is much better at explaining that, but that's the basics.
If you want, send it to me and I'll put it up.
Yeah, I knew about the low profit on autos. But 'net profit' is kinda skewed anyway. by the time you get to 'net' they've run out of creative ways to chop down 'gross' with trumped up expenses so they pay less in taxes.... most companies do this, mine included.
I remember the 3.0 tempo, also remember the AWD tempo with that teeny little diff in the back... it was so cute! ... also remember wondering why in the heck they tilted that master cylinder at an angle so sharp. you had to jack the back of the car up 3 feet to bleed it if you ever got air in the mastercylinder (either that or pull it off and re-bench bleed it, install the lines with it level, and let it gravity bleed before re-bolting it to the booster...
oooh.... speaking of tempo's what was the whole reasoning behind the foam rubber coated wheels? it was always funny to see one come in after a caliper had locked up and melted the face off of the wheel
sorry, just thought of that...
By the way, Kerry, I sorta accidently maybe slightly thread-jacked here... my bad... I like your photo contest entry, I had frost on MY seat two weeks ago (yup, all the way down here in Fla....)
Quote from: cernunosOk, I sent an E-Mail to Kerry (Sorry Kerry but you started the darn thing) with my puzzle pic.
Uhhh ... I
may have deleted your email. I remember tossing a few a couple hours ago, assuming they were spam. And then for some reason I decided to clean out my Deleted folder for the first time in weeks. :x
Care to resend?

But seriously: automotive design decision questions? :?
If only you knew how many times either I or one of my co-workers had pondered eloquently (read, cussed up a storm) over the years due to various not-so-repair friendly designs, etc...
to hear stories from the other side of the curtain would entertain many a mechanic, I think :)
No, I understand the interest in the subject ... but in my Mystery Photos! thread?
(Just giving you a hard time. :) )
hehe.... it was cernunos that mentioned it first
I woulda pestered him long before now had I known where he used to work!
Meanwhile, back from the tempo of ferrets, pulling Kerry's fine thread back into line: Cernunos, try your pic again.
Ok, starting to wake up now, I'll try sending the pic again. And I apologize for starting a thread withing a thread...I was just trying to illustrate how ridiculously ignorant engineers can be at times. Now where did I put my coffee-cup? .Love the Baby and the forum.
C........
1) UPLOAD: Upload picture to image hosting site such as www.photobucket.com. make sure the site allows hotlinking before u sign up with them.
2) HOTLINK: if u are using photobucket its real simple. there will be 3 lines under each picture in ur photobucket account. chose the line with the [ IMG] and [ /IMG] tags. copy it. paste it into your post! thats all there is to it!
Ok guys here's the thing; C....... does not like "signing up" for ANYTHING on the web. I don't like throwing out my name, E-Mail, address...yadda yoda blabba...anywhere at anytime. I won't even bid on E-Bay for cryin' out loud. Just give me a break here and I will send the pic to the Grand Kerry Cowbah this once and I'll never ever ever guess what the pic or the puzzle or the moral is again if it means I have to go to a "host" (mmmm it just sounds so parasitic, although I know it's supposed to be more symbiotic). I genuflect in front of the Grand Forum. Lovin' the Baby and the Grand Forum.
C.......
I've got some space to host as well if Kerry's is too busy or too full. So feel free to send me the pic.
Also I suggest a new thread for each picture with a subject of Myster pic II etc.
Ok, wan mo tyme...

Likin' it (bike and forum)
C.......
Hmmm. You did it right C ( :thumb: ) but it looks like the gallery won't allow "hot linking" after all.
Hang on - I'll host your image and fix your post.
EDIT: Done!
What would we do without the likes of the Grand Cowbah, et al? OOOh I feel so impotent when I'm around computers. Love the bike and the forum.
C.......
Is it the tank on your GS?
Is that the new mystery pic? Looks like a fisheye view of a compaq computer front. And the fish needs glasses too.
Ah, I didn't see the writing. I thought it was just a streak. I see the drive bay now too. Dang I suck.

It's the mouse
Not a scanner...keep goin'. Kiss the bike and praise the forum.

I'll bet Jason has it. I'll think it's a mouse too, but I'm only #2.
Jason S is it...later guys...the White Owl awaits me :) . Love that screamin' little 500 and this forum.

Thanks cummuterguy.
I guess I had the answer in the palm of my hand, ha!
Ok, I'll post something when I get home from work.
I've got another one waiting in the wings - do you mind if I put that one out for now?
No, go ahead. :thumb:
OK - here you go:

No guesses? I'll post the full pic no later than 5:00 Central to make way for jason_S. I don't expect anyone to get it perfectly right; I'm just interested in the different perceptions people have.
Post up!
It looks like a gourd of some sort.
Hmmm. Yeah, I could see that.... :)
looks like an extremely ripe tomato
Getting closer. Do you know the derivation of the Italian word for "tomato"? :)
Bad Apple
I hope you've got another pic on tap, Ed. (Or we can wait for jason_S).
It is indeed an apple, which has been rotting all through the winter.

Eeewwww!
I have one @ home. If Jason doesn't provide one before I get there, I'll put it up.
You did offer a good clue.
I was gonna guess it was your poor shriveled finger with a nasty thorn in the end  JK. Thanx for helping with my pic Kerry...very interesting thread. Only three days till Ed gets the Snortster (envy envy)...love the GS and the forum.

keyhole? long shot...
... mmmm ... not quite ... Hint = Homeowners are more likely to recognize this.
I think I know what it is man, but there's no way I'm going to cover that bet seein's how it took me so long to get a pic in last time. Love the bike and the forum.
C.......
Take a shot, I'm only standing in for Kerry, it's really his turn.
Looks kinda like...mmmm...a water meter cover. One of them big steel suckas that you lift and then a ton of yellowjackets come flyin' out. Maybe...Love the Baby and the forum.
C.......
Did my hint help? You got it. A big fat scorpion stung me on my pinkie finger when I lifted one once. That hurt BAD.
I was stationed in Cuba with a friend who was stung in the armpit by a scorpion. When he whacked at it the thing fell down into his shirt and by the time he got it out he was stung again on the index finger. His whole arm swelled up like a balloon and we thought he was a goner. They transferred him to a base hospital and he recovered but said that the arm still felt tingly all the time. Scorpions are some evil little creatures. Yeh, don't like messin' with those water meter covers either. So, Kerry, where's yer pic? (you started this you know). Love that little GS and this forum.
C.......
cant u die from that?? isnt being stung pretty serious?
OK, I'm back! I forgot all about a class I had to take my wife to tonight....
This one's probably too easy:

emory board or file?
my guess would be a file too...
striking surface on a book of matches
doh... good call Mat, I thought I was close, I just couldn't put my finger on it.
Ahhhh - a striking surface. That would explain the scrape.... :thumb:
The thing reminds me of a honeybee hive. I love bees although I could probably never raise them, allergic to their sting...at least, used to be. But, yeh, I guess I can see the striking surface. Hey, Ed's beauty gets shipped tomorrow (envy envy). Love that rascal of a GS and this forum.
C.......
mat u got it! well close enough. its actually a box not a book. but yea. i struck a match before i took the shot because i thought it might be too hard without. btw C, my dad has a few hives.. hes been doing it as a hobby and a side-source of income.

Wowee this thread went 6 pages in 1 day and I didn't even see it ... Anyway ... In India We had a friend whose house was infested with them ... have you tried to kill one ... It is so damn tough ... it feels like a piece of leather you are hitting ... anyway we had to have them trapped with an indian style broom and clobber it with the base of a cricket bat ... you'd still end up in many cases with one that needed a few blows to die ... And people build immunity to the stings ... My friend and his family were all immune ... hurt like hell I presume ...
Cool.
Srinath.
why do scorpions live in watermeters??
Hell yes they're hard to kill...like a giant armor plated bug with a .22 for a tail. I was always afraid to sleep lying down so I got to where I would sleep in a squatting position...didn't help 'cuz I would wake up on my side or back and start swattin' at myself in case any of the buggers had crawled on me in the nite. I did almost sit on one and a friend noticed it...that sure would have been a pain in the ass  . When I turned around and looked at the bugger it had its claws stretched out like a fighter and I could just hear it thinkin'..."bring it on down here jar-head, I got sumpin' fer yer ass". Love the scooter and the forum. Bring on da pic Mat!!
C.......
Concerning this scorpion sidebar story: I've been stung a few times. Scorpions can control the amount of venom they inject, presumably to allow for the need of multiple strikes or mutliple threats. I've been stung and had it feel no worse than a thorn prick. The big baddy gave me his best shot since when I lifted the meter cover I accidently grabbed him underneath it. They like dark, damp areas, but will also come into nice dry homes in darkened rooms. I've killed three this week. One dropped on me from above, the little terrorist paid with his life. I find a quick stomp with a shoe suffices to kill them. But, very few chemicals will do. They can swim in ant & roach spray, but spray carburetor cleaner works REALLY well. Arizona is scorpion country, unfortunately.
can anyone take a pic of a real one?
can you send one to me as a pet??
Quote from: Frost
can you send one to me as a pet??
They don't have them in pet stores in Canada? All the ones here do.
haha...they do...but i want a wild arizona one...lol...
My friend's cousins live in the bottom of the Grand Canyon...they work for the Parks Service...anyway they hold the scorpions down with a bent serving spoon and slice off the stinger with another serving spoon...without their stingers you can play with them safely. Then they would take the stingers and put them on a necklace...with the pointy part of the stinger snipped off, of course.
Although I'm not fond of the scutters I also don't see torturin' the poor things by pullin' off their tails. They're just lookin' for a meal like anything else. Hey, if you wanna play with 'em, why not just play a game of tag and see if you can tag them before they tag you? And I guess they would make a cool pet...we had a Black Widow as a pet for a while until the power went off during the winter and she froze to death. It was so sad watching Bebe cry over that spider. Oh well, love the bike and this forum.
C.......
Hey C - while you're waiting for Mat's pic, see if you can identify another evil creature for me....
a very fat cat
or...a very meaty kitty cat...
Close ... and NO.
Am I the only that sees the sightless eyes and the horrible V-shaped grin? :?
Umm, how about a Shar Pei?
bulldog?
Looks like I picked another easy one.
It's one of our "new" Labrador puppies. They're both a lot bigger now, at about one year.

Oh, but babe I've been so sick and who knows how much longer I'll be here :( ...well, she says, you better be around a while if yer expectin' to ride a new Harley. Similar here. I use Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.net/) (Freeware) to resize, crop, adjust colors, etc.
And I actually use MS Paint to add the colored rectangles showing the close-up region in the full-context photos.
Next?
Antenna of some type? Maybe a weather meter?
"Bing! First shot out of the box!" I really have to find some harder stuff.... :dunno:
Sweet!
I'm next. Got a good one for you all.

bad teeth?
nope and nope
Cauliflower? . Love the GS and this forum.
C.......
some sort of grub?
an explosion?
nope, nope, and nope.
Nuts...ahm nuts about the GS500 and the GStwin forum.
C.......
is it some kinda organ? cause that would be gross
Quote from: weaselnozeis it some kinda organ? cause that would be gross
That's what I was thinking - intestines or something.
Otherwise - a Hubble Telescope shot of a distant nebula?
a nebula can be considered an explosion right?
nuclear explosion.
all nope. Should I just show ya?
Packing peanuts?
You know what? I'll give ya hints. You'll find it here on Earth, so no nebulas or anything like that. I'll give ya scale also. That image covers about an inch of space.
Here's a re-post of the image so you don't need to go back a page just to see it.
I have some others I'll do later if ya liked that one.
NO no no no...please, let us keep guessing. MMMMMM, some kind of cereal?? Love the bike and the forum.
C.......
really fluffy mashed potatoes? (sorry, i'm hungry)
Oh man. Mashed potatoes sounds so good right now, but nope.
Some kinda bug sac...spider eggs. 'nother hint please...animal vegetable or mineral? Love the GS and the forum.
C.......
OK You put some thick liquid creamer in a cup of coffee and it billows up like that ... of course you have to be one incredible photographer to get it ... and I think you are likely to be Kerry ... that 1 inch was my hint ... making the thing fairly sizeable ...
Cool.
Srinath.
 Actually, it's my photo and it's nothing special as you soon will see whenever it's guessed. So another hint? Hmm. Has nothing to do with motorcycles. In fact, it's organic.
The more I think about it, the more I think no one will get it without more hints or dealing with it directly. In fact, I think a good group of people might not know what it is even if they saw the original image.
Ok. Definitely a living thing. Not human nor comes from a human. One could consider it a pet of sorts and is more than likely grouped with other organisms (some like it, some not) in the same environment. I think I gave away too much with this hint.
Bug larvae...honeybee larvae? MMMM, I love the GS and the forum.
C.......
i was thinkin larva tooo but idk.... ok
nope and nope. Going on a ride for the day. Check back later today and will repost the image if no one gets it. If someone does, I'll post the original image. Have fun.
Ok, so it's animal...cognizant or non? And could be a pet...it interacts with you? A walkin' talkin' hazelnut!! So, does it think? Love the Baby G and the forum.
C.......
I'm reaching here but... Sea Sponge???
Quote from: GeePI'm reaching here but... Sea Sponge???
Very close! You're right in the neighborhood. Should I just show it or want to keep going?
NO no no no, let us play...some type of coral. Does this thing come in different colors? Does it move about? Love the little bike and this forum.
C....... (oooh this IS a good one)
Quote from: cernunosNO no no no, let us play...some type of coral.
hehe Well ya just got it. Say hello to the balloon coral.

I have some good ones I'll post up after a couple others go first. Next image?
WOW, I have been diving in the Caribbean, Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean and I have never seen Balloon Coral. Absolutely fascinating. Where is it found, and if common in the Seven Seas how in the heck did I miss it?
Love the Baby bike and this forum.
C.......(fantastic puzzle pic BTW)
I don't know too much about it. It's from my friend's tank. You can see some of the other coral, live rock, and fish he has in his tank here (http://www.roguegeek.com/gallery/fishies-and-stuff).
man that was a hard one!!

Yes, it's part of a vehicle. But what KIND of vehicle?
Covered wagon?
Nope. A little smaller.
wheelbarrow kerry
Well, bigger than that! :)
Correct on the spider web. I'll post whole pic when I get home.

For a horseless carriage, it could sure use a few horses about now.
Actually, I was hoping someone out there could tell ME what it is. It's a Ford, I know that. But ... Model A? ... Model T? ... before my time.
Not for sure but it appears to be a 1924-26 TT enclosed cab truck with optional steel doors. Earlier models used a canvas top and even earlier had an open front. Later models started using steel wheels and a little bit more aero package  . At any rate it would be a nice piece of history to restore. And Frost; yes I really do love my Baby G and this forum too.

Float bowl gasket interface on a GS500? :dunno:

it looks like the top of the windshield, where it mates with the roof.

Has to do with 4 wheeled vehicles, more specifically my truck
I guess my picture was too obscure. Here's my truck at the laudromat:

Looks like blurry tile in the bathroom...
last and final clue, involes much fun on a motorcycle, any make, any model :thumb:
View inside the gas tank?
Part of an oil can maybe?
Gotta admit, it's a tad dark and blurry...
maybe part of a helmet?

And I also think the other pic is some kind of saw (I have no idea what kind tho).

Not a saw. The item could fit in the palm of your hand.
Part of a watch movement?
I need another clue

It has been around for decades
No electronics
Not able to cut anything but can cause an injury
Not a gun
I will post the full size tonight when I get off work just after 11:00
I know what it is!
It's gotta be the spark wheel on a Zippo lighter.
(Had to put it in photoshop and lighten it up a little)
Errr... Maybe not a Zippo - what appears to be the case hinge is on the wrong side, but some kind of lighter spark wheel.

Nah, that's just the flag that lets you see the plow behind a drift before it's on top of you.

Guessing this one might get a little hairy -- but I have confidence in you folks.
Looks like the front to one of those old collapsible camera doodads. Or possibly a sanding pad, but your sanding pad is crap if it has a hole int he center, lol.
Is it the underside of the base of a rocking chair or a rocking horse? Does that make sense?
I have no clue.

Heh. In retrospect that was kind of underhanded. I rotated the original image 90 degrees 'cause I thought it would be too easy otherwise. Silly me!

you at a carnival? or fair of some sort? looks like something you would find at on, like a large strawberry booth/car/carriage
it's clearly a urinal
It's that stupid strawberries ride at the fair. The one that spins and makes you want to puke b/c you can only see everything whizzing by out of the little doorway. So that first pic is of the door, I think?
The win goes to Blueknyt, with honourable mentions to Amanda for being dead on and crash for... well... being crash. Dude, you must just go ahead and pee ANYWHERE if that looked like a urinal to you. :)

By the way, I just rode for about 20 minutes with a gsxr1000, cbr600rr, bandit, ninja 500r, and one that was out in front that I didn't get to see. First time I've gotten to ride in a pack like that. Mucho cooth.

I've been riding with a couple guys for last few weekends, even though I don't totally blend in. There's an '04 CBR1000RR, '05 R1, '04 R1, and two other guys that ride newer gixxers, but I don't remember whether they're 600's or 750's.
Yeah its way fun, I get to watch them do their wheelies and stoppies and chill out in the back of the pack.

No fair! It's been over 6 years since I've been in the lab and I can barely remember what I was working on.
Is the image right-side up?
some kind of forceps and a test tube?
is it tongs and a test tube or beaker?

Is it something that holds something hot though? like a stand

It's not tongs, though that's in the ballpark for part of it... and it's not hot.
Maybe a rubber coated clamp for holding an ultra centrifuge tube? But the EtBr band looks too sharp...
is the glass part a test tube?
Yep, it's a rubber-covered stand clamp... not an ultracentrifuge tube, though.
So what is the clamp holding? Is that something we have to guess as well?

I was about to say, lizard or fish eye...
edit - Although the stalk makes me think snail or slug.
It is an eye, but you got to get the right animal (or at least close)
It looks like a fly or other bug (insect).
lobster or crab eye
One of my favorite sea critters, the mantis shrimp
(http://members.cox.net/ridemygs500/mantis.jpg)
The eyes of these Crustaceans have eight classes of visual pigments for detection of color, as well as additional classes of visual pigments for sensing the polarization and distribution of light. In addition, they have the ability of depth perception with a single eye.
Humans have a measly 3 classes of visual pigments for color detection (fewer in color blind folks)
Is fish close to sea shrimp? :P

plastic magnetic tape!?
Close enough
(http://www.uwm.edu/~mpmaes/Photos/st2000.JPG)
Its whats used to handle 35mm film for movies.
This is a particularly funky one though. Its and endless loop system, so the start of the film is spliced to end, creating a 10 thousand foot loop of 35mm film(about a 2 hour movie). So if you dont stop it the movie would just keep looping.
i still don't know what it is :dunno:
That big chunk of black stuff is the actually film that you see at movie theatre. The rest of it is what handles the film that feeds it to the projector. which would be off to the left

it is Native American beading...pretty significant too been used for hundreds of years, but that doesn't really answer what it is.
Do I get any points here?
Those are the beads that the Dutch traders secured New Amsterdam (now NYC) with. They're an early blueprint of Rockefeller Center, you can see the "footprint" of some of the buildings and where the Christmas tree (Festivus tree for the PC folks) is to be placed! (Sorry, I can't resist levity on this Forum  )

Iroquois? Mohawk?
Wampum Belt
signifies the joining of the Iroquois nation, the five tribes...later to be known as the 6 Nations.
Bingo, its known as Hiawatha's belt. The first block (from right to left) representing the Mohawks who live in the east, next the Oneidas, the Onondagas, who are centrally located and also hold the Grand Council (the seat capital) are represented by a tree symbol, the Cayuga Nation who are located near Rochester N.Y. and finally the Seneca Nation who live furthest west. These Nations are all connected by a white path of peace. The white beads that extend outward is also an invatation to other nations who wish to join and live by this Law of Peace. The purple represents the Great Law of Peace, Kariwiio and all the laws and customs the Creator has given the Haudenosaunee to live together in peace.

Some type of alcoholic beverage label
I have no idea if it's made in Italy, but that seems to be as reasonable an explanation as any for the presence of the word. Most of it is round.
Is it a container?
Does it normally contain an eatable substance?
It's a container of sorts. It normally contains a potable substance, but it doesn't dispense it for consumption.
It the "container of sorts" made of metal?
Parts of it are made of metal.
Does the "container of sorts" contain glass?
Not that I know of.
does it conatin oil?
Not to my knowledge.
is it a keg?
Nope.
is it cylindrical in shape?
Part of it is cylindrical in shape.
is it a bottle?
Is it a fire engine? Tanker truck?
(I'm stuck on the "potable substance, not for consumption")
Fountain?
Not a bottle or fountain. It's not a fire engine or a tanker truck, but you're closer than everyone else.
Quote from: Badger(I'm stuck on the "potable substance, not for consumption")

let's establish its size first...is it bigger than a motorcycle?
The part we see isn't bigger than a motorcycle.
Steam engine?
Nope.
does it have an engine/motor?
Nope.

Rachet on a tiedown?
Teeth on a pawl?
is it a hand tool?
Quote from: JetSwingis it a hand tool?
It is a tool.
It can be used by hand, or with a machine.
It looks like the teeth on a set of vice grips.
It's gears or ratcheting/locking teeth on something...
Something rusty...
Teeth on pliers? Clamps?
they look more like channel lock teeth to me.
Nope. Not jaws of any kind. It isn't rusty either. Technically, the ridges aren't even called teeth. I'm probably going to give this away now...

a really tiny picture that resembles nothing

Goose foot.

OK, here.
Is it a brass instrument?
It is neither brass nor an instrument.
The arms of a Boston rocking chair?
It is not a rocking chair.
No. It is the blued headers on a naked I-4 sportbike.
Looks like some copper tubing to me.
It's not headers; it's not copper.
Is it something in your lab?
Is it a decoration of some kind?
Is there tubing involved?
Is the silver looking thing a metal ball?
i want to win :(
what is that in the picture?
It is in the lab. It is a decoration of some kind. There is no tubing involved. The round thing is not a metal ball.
is it a basket?
It's not a basket.
is it (what we see in the picture) made out of plastic?
Nope.
is it an item that usually belong in a lab?
Quote from: RoadstergalIt is a decoration of some kind.
is it holiday related?
This item is usually in my lab, but it is not something naturally connected with labwork. It is not holiday-related.
is it a small gazing ball inside a wire coil?
does it serve any other purpose beside decoration?
It is not a gazing ball.
I consider it to be used mostly for decoration, but many would disagree. It does have other uses.
glass pipe or bong
Nope.
Wait - you're thinking we have a bong in the lab every so often?
Oh, and it's no longer in the lab.
have you seen some of those pipes and bongs, they are very decoritive. and some people actually use them.
is it made of glass anyway?
They are decorative, but I think we'd be busted for having them around the lab, since they're technically drug paraphernalia. It's not glass.
is it some type of container
does it hold anything
Nope.
a rubber chicken
Damn! How'd you guess?
No.
it just kind of came to me. ok
is it made of ruber?
is it made of metal?
how many can i ask at once?
is it made of wood?
One at a time. It's not made of rubber.
metal?
wood?
There's some metal.
a metal chicken?
if its not that, then im all out of ideas
Nope...
is it a rubber chicken?
I haven't let you see my rubber chicken yet.
so it is a rubber chicken?
Nope.
so it is not a rubber chicken?
It's a rubber chicken that isn't a chicken and isn't made of rubber.
well that is down right confusing then.
like a bankok ladyboy. you think it's a woman but it's really a man.
so it's a rubber chicken then?
No, it's a ladyboy.
why a ladyboy cannot be a rubber chicken that is neither a chicken or rubber.
Ahem.
Y'all are thinking too big. RVertigo and davipu both know what this is.
yeah, it's a rubber chicken.
I don't know what it is, but that's a big, creepy eyeball behind it.
Monocle?
If there's a big, creepy eyeball behind it, tell the person to move away from the back of your monitor.
You're claiming there is no eyeball in the photo? It sure looks like a pupil and a blueish-gray iris in the background.
There is no eyeball in the photo.
Well, I respectfully disagree. That is an eyeball, whether you think it is or not.
ok, lets try to narrow this down.
is it smaller than a rubber or metal chicken
Yes, it's right next to Dave's rubber chicken.
when did I get a rubber chicken?
It is smaller than any chicken I've seen.
is it smaller than a chicken egg (ruber or otherwise)
It's a bit smaller than the chicken eggs I've seen.
Is it one of these?
Yes, it is. Good eye.
so where did you get yours from?
That place.
ok, so people that use this. do they use this with food or beverages
If they do, it's completely unrelated to the object's purpose.
is it used for anything sexual (if used as intended)
see i told you it is a rubber chicken.
It can be used as something sexual, although it usually isn't (in my experience).
Quote from: Roadstergalit usually isn't (in my experience).
so you have an experience where it was used in that manner?
Yep.
hmmm, anal beads?
No. Anal beads aren't usually used for a sexual purpose?
theres nothing sexual about anal beads to me.
ok, not used for food or sex, something computer related?
Not computer related.
does it have any moving parts
Kinda. Not in the sense that you're probably asking.
is its used to give mechanical advantage
Nope.
some type of massaging device
Nope.
Look at the answered questions so far as a whole... there are hints.
is the part thats not metal clear? is it even part of the object?
You can see both the metal part and the non-metak part. Well, you can see the metal part of three and the non-metal part of the most distal one.
some type of claw?
Nope.
is it used in some type of game
Not really.
can you give me a little hint?
The change in its location is a hint.
where did it move to
Ok lets recap
-Things its not
A brass instrument
A rocking chair
Blued headers on a naked I-4 Sportbike
Copper
Tubing
Metal Ball
Basket
Plastic (at least what is visible)
Naturally connected with labwork
Holiday related
Small gazing ball inside a wire coil
pipe or bong
glass
A container
rubber or metal chicken
Made of rubber
Bankok Ladyboy
Eye
Monocle
Used for food or beverage
Something sexual (except in at least one of RG's experiences)
Anal beads
Computer related
Moving parts (sort of)
To give mechanical advantage
Massaging device
Claw
Used in a game
Key Chain?
I think it's a decoration of some kind.
Edited for drunkness
Quote from: RoadstergalIt is not holiday-related.
It's neither of those.
I had to take this picture a few times to know I had gotten an OK pic.
Is it Beer related?
Is it cigarette related?
It is not related to beer or cigarettes.
Well, it might be tangentially related to beer, in that drinking too much beer might make you accidentally involved with one of these. But most places that work with these have policies dealing with that.
Quote from: RoadstergalI had to take this picture a few times to know I had gotten an OK pic.
Is that supose to be a hint
Yep.
Tiny Hand cuffs
Nope.
Quote from: RoadstergalIt is not related to beer or cigarettes.
:dunno: That's about as far as my imagination is going right now.
You don't have to imagine it; you've seen it. And have experienced similar objects.
a mini toilet
Nope.
is it a mini version of a normally larger object
Nope.
You can get them larger - much larger - and smaller, but that's just the variation. There's no one set size.
Quote from: RoadstergalYou don't have to imagine it; you've seen it. And have experienced similar objects.
That was specifically for RVertigo. It isn't a given that everyone has experienced similar objects, and most people here haven't seen these particular ones.
well then give me a clue that i will understand
Short of telling you what it is...
The thing that Aaron thinks is an eyeball is stone.
yeah, or maybe you could expand the picture a little
it still looks like the head of a ruber chicken to me
(http://www.roadstergal.info/images/mystery.jpg)
I think I'm more confused now thay I was before...
It's not a pen again is it?
Ok i need to go to bed, and i wont be able to sleep if i dont know what it is, so just tell me
It's a pen :thumb:
NIGHT!
How do you get drunk and get accidentally involved with a pen
ring
is it used in conjuction with any other object?
bowling ball
necklace?
It is a ring? Like a ring that would be on your finger. But how would getting drunk involve a ring on accident? Or any sort of stone? Unless that is a kidney stone that has been passed and then sent to the lab. And now the kidney stone is being looked at through a mircoscope. But when would a kidney stone ever be involved in sex? Romancing the Stone? Nope. Too freaky even for RG.
The ring might work, you might get drunk and get married
It's not a pen, ring, bowling ball, or necklace, but those even-numbered guesses are getting close.
"even-numbered guesses"? :dunno:
is it a jewelry?
The ear ring from your right ear?

What type of pipes?
exhaust
From what?
motorcycle
or do i need to know the make, model, year, and color too?
Make and model is good enough for me. Those pipes are fairly distinctive. It's a fairly new bike, if that's any help. Like I said, it's an easy one and we're still waiting for RG to host that other guys.
kawasaki Z1000, and im going to guess blue, maybe 2005, 2006
Well done. 2003 black and red though.
I love this bike. It's gorgeous, powerful, yet subtle. It isn't seen in wide numbers, but it's got a huge helping of style. I'm quite partial to the black and red, but the blues are always nice... well, the '06 is ugly because the blue is too bright and a matte color, but whatever.
well blue is the color of the bike that showed up on the kawasaki web site
Heh. Yeah. It's not a good one though. It's kinda disapointing, though. You'd think they would learn from Honda's 919; flat colors don't sell well.
