Let's say that you want to display a picture that's already hosted somewhere on the 'Net. For example, the color-changing fuel tank next to the GStwin.com logo on the old-style GStwin.com Home Page (http://www.gstwin.com/).
First you have to know the URL for the image -- its "address" on the Internet. Right-click on the picture and click "Properties". Highlight the
Address: (URL) with your mouse and press Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard. Click OK or Cancel to dismiss the Properties window.
While editing your post, click on the
Insert Image button

to insert both the begin
Img tag and the end
Img tag. (Or, you can type them in if it's faster for you):
[img][/img]Put your cursor in between the two tags and press Ctrl-V to paste the URL:

Preview button to see if you did everything right:

If it looks good THEN click the
Post button.
If you want to post a pic that ISN'T already hosted somewhere on the 'Net, you'll need to find someone / someplace to host it. Try http://www.uploadit.org or http://www.photodump.com (you need an account to upload, but not to view).
Again, you'll need to figure out the direct URL to the image and use that. (NOT the URL for a page that
contains the image.)
Also, you can upload pics to one of the GStwin galleries and then include post the image in your post(s). (But PLEASE ... don't use the GStwin-hosted Galleries as your personal "photo dump". See the previous post for a couple of all-purpose photo hosting sites.)
Here are the notes that I took as I did my first upload to the latest Gallery:
1) Click on "GS500 Wall of Fame" in the "Go To" dropdown list at the upper right corner of any GStwin.com page.
2) Find "Upload file" in the list of blue text links at the top of the Gallery intro page and click on it.
3) On the Upload file page, click the "Browse..." button and select the desired image file from your machine. I chose
IMG_0533_UpperFallsPark.jpg from one of my photo directories.
4) Back on the Upload file page, click the CONTINUE button. The file should upload, and you will be taken to a Successful Uploads page. Click CONTINUE again.
5) The next page is also labeled Upload file, but as you can see it's quite different from the first one. This one lets you see your image and allows you to choose the appropriate gallery album to put it in, as well as a short caption and a longer description. Make sure you choose an appropriate album! If you don't, the image may get sent to an album that doesn't make sense. (For my picture of a picnic spot near my home, I selected the "Scenic Views" album.) Once you have entered your info, click CONTINUE again.
6) An Information page will tell you that your file was "successfully placed". Click CONTINUE.
7) You are taken back to the main Gallery page. Click on the name of the album you specified for the image. Go to the last page in the album click on your image.
8 ) HERE is where you follow the instructions from the first post in this topic thread . (Right-click on the actual image, copy the URL from the Properties page, etc.)[/list:u]

Another excellent photo hosting site is PhotoBucket (http://www.photobucket.com)
After you create an account (it's free to do so, and you get a full 1GB of storage space for pictures AND videos), you can upload pictures and organize them into sub albums, keeping them arranged however you desire. You can upload multiple images at once (up to 20 at once) via your PC, or upload them from the internet as well.
After uploading pictures PhotoBucket gives you three options for posting your image. Directly underneath the image are three text boxes labeled "URL Link", "HTML Code", and "IMG Code". In order to paste an image into this forum, which uses the IMG Code, all you have to do is simply copy the text within the text box labeled "IMG Code" and paste it into the reply box on this forum. Simply complete your post and the photo should be viewable for all to see!
