well, my little Gs has been at the doctor (for a month!!) now, but its all better now, so I'm ready to start riding it to work. I have to wear khakis at my job... anybody want to comment on the neccessity of some sort of over-pant? I don't want bug spatter on my khakis, but I'm not really so keen on the idea of wearing riding pants in Florida in the summer :(
Will I be OK, or will my pants get covered in bug guts? I have a bone stock GS500E, with no additional faring.
I suppose I could get a backpack, and keep my khakis in the bag till I get to work, but that sounds like a PITA (pain in the arse)
One word; CHAPS. You'll love 'em if you try 'em. Oh, Baby G, when it will it get warm enough to get bugs in my teeth again? Love the forum.
C........
i never get bug guts on my pants. once in awhile a big ass beetle or something will hit me in the jacket but nothing on my pants
Wrap your legs in cellophane? Ride much, much slower? Ride with your legs stuck straight forward, so the bugs bounce of the bottom of your feet?
I'm a problems solver, man.
Next question.
Getting back to seriousness... I would suggest you check out the JR mesh Phoenix pants, a little baggy but plenty of room to go over pants and even jeans. I also heard good things by a simular set of overpants by fieldsheer.
Firstgear HT Air, take out the liner, voila! Raining? Put the liner back in, voila! You're dry.
Do I own these yet? Nope.
Have I ever used the word "voila" before? Nope.
Winter commuting....JR Phoenix pants over my dress pants or jeans...some long johns if it's really cold. Summer commuting...JR Phoenix pants over cotton shorts...change into my dress pants and shirt in the bathroom at work.

Great protection with or without the optional Core Comp CE armor (I ordered these along with the pants) and comfortable. I wear these on top of my khaki's. However, even with the liner removed, they might be a bit warm. You can zip the sides down a bit if it gets too warm.

Sweet... if they are cool enough for Texas in the summer, I think they should be fine here too. Thanks!!!
