I read on Pablo's site that a 88-93 Katana GSX-1100 front master cylinder will work, the advantage being the brake line connects on the front rather than the end. Last night I was looking through online catalogs and am wondering which part is it exactly?
I found 59600 48B11 I'm at work or I would post the pics of this and the GS cylinder. The 1100 does not have a mirror mount on the clamp and I don't know if I could use the clamp with a mount on the 1100 master cylinder.
If anyone has done this swap, is it a direct bolt in? I just ordered a stainless brake line with GS fittings. When I was looking at the two master cylinders, they look different at the brake line connection. :dunno:
Anyone?
It does not make any difference in performance where the connection is. The only issue would be hose routing but should not be a problem. I use GSXR M/C on one bike and have a SV M/C on another. From what I have seen, the clamp with the boss for the mirror is interchangeable with the clamps that do not have them.
What about using a MC from a naked SV? They have the mounts for the mirrors in the brake clamp. I would think that any factory non-faired bike would be this way as well.

Why do you need a new master cylinder is the first question? The bore size or piston size of the master cylinder will make a difference in the feel of the lever and the amount that you will have to pull the lever to get the same results as the stock unit.
The reason I need a new one is there is damage to mine from a crash. It's ummm....kind of ground up from sliding down the road.
I have SM bars on the bike and since I need a new mastercylinder, I wanted to try the GSX 1100 one because the brake line attaches on the front rather than the side as on the GS (better tachometer clearance).
I already ordered a stainless line with GS fittings. I just wanted to verify that the 1100 master is a direct bolt on with no modifications.
Thanks for the tip on the SV. I'll look into that as well. When I was looking at the parts diagrams at Mr Cycles the connection fittings looked different to me.
