Title: aftermarket exhaust limitations
Post by: oldskool on March 04, 2005, 02:41:41 PM
hello all. im new to this forum but from what ive seen so far, its great. i have a question i hope someone can provide some insight on.

im looking for a new muffler for my 93 gs500e. i have saw or read about pretty much all of the aftermarket street pipes available for the gs but im curious as to if it has to be a street muffler. would an off road muffler work, like a lightweight racing series for a four stroke dirt bike.

i know the sound and the looks of it would be different, but thats what i am aiming for. would there be any negative effects on the engine. how about performance.

has anyone ever tried this? what are the repercussions? any ideas would be great

thanks

Off road 4 stroke will work, 2 stroke ... no ... yea we follow that old adage ... Slap anything on and see how it runs ...
Cool.

I tossed on an '04 R6 cannister on my '89 GS.  Just sounds good all the way around.  slightly louder than stock, but flows way better,is lighter, and looks kinda nice/different on a GS.
