Title: inline fuel filter
Post by: splatt on March 07, 2005, 09:28:12 AM
has anyone installed an inline fuel filter using the stock fuel lines?  if so, what size filter did you use?  i've searched it and there's plenty of info on what size replacement lines to buy, but unclear info on what size filter to buy... :dunno:   also, is it possible to splice the line and add the filter and off you go?  or do you need extra line to add the filter in there?  thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey,
You can just splice one in there...might need to cut out an inch of hose or so.  just get a universal inline fuel filter from the local bike shop. most will work fine.  I run 1/4 inch hose/filter on mine.

When I installed mine I just spliced the filter into the line.  I cut a section of hose out of the stock line about half the length of the filter then attached the hoses to either side.  This gave me just enough room to route the filter without having all kinds of extra hose.  Then I suggest letting the line free flow into a waste container before reconnecting to the carb to get the air out of the filter.  My fuel filter (one of those little cone shaped plastic ones) still has some air in it...I'm guessing that's not good.  :dunno:
