I believe dgyver took over the solo tail operation while the carbon kevlar master is overseas...hopefully safe. I'd love to know also...I'm gonna need another one now. This one is too pretty to crash!! I gave the guy free reign with the paint. This is a little wilder than I would have went, but I think he did a good job.
Nice job on the paint. I like it. I have an airbrush and am doing small projects. Hopefully Ill paint my bike with my airbrush and make it look cool. Oh ya did you do the front fender?
That bike of yours must be getting close to complete. You have been working on it for years.

I was gonna powder coat Jetswings frame and thought seriously about colors ... and then saw that the frame was better than I thought ... so I dropped the plan ... but I wanted to powder coat it red ... like bright shiny ferrari red frame and dull finish black body ... sorta like a film negative bike BUT ... you gotta do the frame in dull black so you'll have the perfect positive bike ...

Yes 94, I did the front fender to match. I'll post some more pics when the bike is all together. It'll be a week or two. The guy didn't have a bake booth, so the clear needs a few more days to fully cure.
Hey JohnLA, good to see you back! Yup, the bike is about done now. I need to figure out what I'm going to do about headlights because I'm not real thrilled with the current setup. That's the only other change to come. As it is I've got way too much time and money in this project to ever think about recouping any of it! The paint thing just sort of happened though. I was going to do an ok paint job in my garage - didn't want to get too crazy since the bike does see the track. Then I ran into this guy I know who paints professionally and we arranged a trade, so it ended up working for both of us.
Honorary - paint job prices vary wildly depending on the experience of the painter, where you live, and how nice you want it. If you're going for a simpler look, I'd say you could probably find someone to paint the tank, tail, and fender in the $600 - $1,000 range. If you take the parts off the bike it'll save you a few bucks too.
Hey Srinath - I like your original plan for that bike. The shiny frame and satin body looks tough! I was planning on something similar for my HOdaka project. Was going to powdercoat the frame metallic red and do the tank flat black, but my powdercoater did the wrong color! The frame is orange (the original color is orange and he misunderstood me when I ordered it) with gold flake. It ended up working out though. The original tank is a chrome toaster tank and I thought it was too tarnished and rusty to save, but it polished out nicely, so the orange actually looks good and I'm glad he messed up! Anyhow, check this out - similar concept - pretty cool:

Well...I wouldn't call it a race bike. It's more a street bike that does track days. But you're right, it is too pretty to risk on track. I really didn't mean for the bike to get so done up...just sort of happened. I do have a spare tank that's already been crashed, so I can use that for track days. How much are the tails going for these days? Am thinking about getting another one and just rattle canning the spare tank and tail one color to use at the track. Then I can use the pretty bodywork for street riding, etc.

Bah!! That's nothin'! It took James a couple months to get around to mine, then he broke it pulling it out of the mold and I had to wait another month for him to get me another one!!
Damn...broke it getting out of the mold? This stuff is pretty tough.
I was waiting for the lower for my bike ever since I bought it almost 2 years ago from Colin who bought it from James about 6 months prior. My fairings are his prototypes. Now I am making the master for the lower. One way to get it.
Yeah...I think that's what he told me. It took a while to get it though. Good luck with your lowers!
