Title: Rashad's Yearly UPdate.
Post by: Rashad on March 10, 2005, 06:44:41 PM
Well,

Aside from bothering new people   and postwhoring lately, i havent really given an update. I miss all the oldheads who were here before the F model debuted, i noticed a few of you lurking around :)

Anyways, I decided to finally fix the little things that needed fixing...

SO far ive:

Replaced the gas tank rubber pad, installed tank bolts (yes i had none), Put new front and rear brakes on, Charged up and refilled battery.

Things to do and parts on way:

Ive got new fork seals, Progressive springs (holy crap finally!!!), Small miscroscopic leak in tank to be welded (yeah i know), and that pesky crank oil seal under the right side clutch cover is ordered as well. Dang thing leaks oil down onto my exhaust....then smokes....

Also need to change the oil...thinking about that delvac, but i want synthetic to see if that quiets the loud valve noise of the little twin...

For those who dont know me,  i let the bike sit for three years after i blew it up and just breathed life into it a year ago. I split the cases in two motors and made one good one...and learned a load!!

Also before, I put on new avons, new chain, and me and srinath swapped tachs, I also jetted and tuned her up, and put on the pod filters..which make this thing roar with the V&H full system.

I have sunk a stupid amount of money into my 91' GS...but i love it.

Im probably getting the 15 tooth front sprocket, and maybe a nice dual headlight fairing... any other suggestions?

I think that describes a few people. I would definitely say that I have put too much $ into my bike, but I think that I am pretty much done buying parts for the time being. I also have a large pile of stuff that I haven't installed yet.

OK ... yea something ... dont recall ...
BTW Your bike is teal right ... mine is blue and same decals ...
Your pipe is V&H ... yea rust is a feature ... POS ... the thing is also thin wall ... easy to blow through it after 2-3 years ... Stock with slip-on is the way to go ... thick wall and good steel so it doesn't crap out 10 mins after painting ...
Cool.

Yeah, surprisingly that pipe hasnt rusted through...

I dont think it will.. its been on since i bought it in 2000 :o ...

Was fully rusted for about four years at least... then i sanded it to bare metal, painted it..then it rusted again..then i painted it.

Yep.  Just make sure if there is no shoulder on the sprocket (93 or 94 and earlier) that your rear wheel isn't way out of alignment.  Or, use some large washers as a spacer.
