Title: ok wow. My alpinestar TZ-1 will NOT work in hot weather
Post by: se7enty7 on March 13, 2005, 09:36:57 PM
I thought I would be able to take out the liner and deal..... hah.  It was about 75 today and I was dying.  I had on an undershirt, polo shirt, then the jacket and I was BURNING up.  I'm gonna have to order some mesh/textile stuff I guess

Man, wish I had that problem!  It got all the way up to 41 degrees today but I tried my new JR Ballistic jacket out and it did pretty good.  Can't wait for warmer weather though.

That very reason is why I went textile with a removable liner.

Hmm. I was using my TZ-1 jacket with the liner removed this weekend in about 75 degree weather too. I wore just a t-shirt under it and there were times when i was actually getting cold from the wind. Overall, it seemed fine to me.

One thing I'm noticing from my TZ-1 and the newer AlpineStars jackets is the hardness of the leather. The TZ-1 feels stiffer and seems like it'd be a lot less comfortable than one of the newer, softer AS leather jackets.

I have the A* Dyno and it's pretty comfortable in warm weather (up to 85 deg or so).  The zippered openings in the upper sleeves and upper back circulate the air real well and the leather is very sturdy (crash tested).  It is stiff, but I don't go dancing in it that often. :)

My only complaints are that the vents on the sleeves have a tendency to act like sails (and their pull can be unnerving when caught in swirling winds at high speed) and the elbow pads seem to ride low.  Otherwise, I really like it. :thumb:

I guess I'm gonna hafta just get a new jacket and some chaps. My jacket is almost 30 years old and shows it and I think I gave my chaps to one of my brothers. I always wear leather 'cause like Mat says I don't want to lose my skin. The one time I didn't wear gear I wrecked while going at a pretty good clip. Lotsa body damage...I'll never pull that again. Love the little GS and    to this forum.

Nope. Talking more about the overall feel and more specifically, the collar. Been using it for about 2 months now... on and off of my bike.
