I personally love my Motocomm Audioboss.  I use it for tunes and so my wife can reach me when I'm riding.  It's not the best out there but I think it's the most cost effective.  I recently used it with a friend and his FRS radios without a hitch.

I've tried FRS radios (with a headset). Not a very effective method. The engine/wind noises would set off the transmitter and wouldn't let it turn off.  Not to mention the headset hurts after a while.

Right now, I just use hand signals to convey relatively common messages.
