It took me 7 months to get into class but I finally did it last weekend.
I must say, it was very helpful. It pointed out a lot of my bad habits that i need to get rid of.
they teach you the fundamentals on emergency stopping, which i believe is the most important aspect in riding.
they also teach you the fundamentals on turning, turn that head, turn that head turn that head, look where you are going. I never fully understood it until I was actually forced to do it this weekend. And let me tell you, it does work and it helps a great deal.
I just wanted to share my experiences with you guys in hope that for people experienced/inexperienced riders do take the time to take this class. Its a great and beneficial way to spend 90$ and a couple of days for.

congrats on completing the course :cheers: i had a similar experience where i had been riding awhile before i took the course and it really made me rework my techniques. since completing the course, i've used the skills i learned to get/keep me out of numerous hairy situations. i'm now a much safer rider and it sounds like you will be as well.

I just completed the course this last weekend as well and thought it was really good. I thought the repetition of the fundamentals was really good. Plus it was fun to ride and do the drills. I highly recommend the course to anybody.

I took the course back when I started riding a few months ago. Never been on a bike before that course. It was great. By the end of the course the most important thing I got out of it was confidence and respect. Confidence I could ride safely, but also to respect the fact I'm still a newbie.
They get you in good habits early. I've been on some group rides and a few people have asked how many year's I've been at it because that head's on a swivel. Great course!
They're designing one down here where you can use your own bike, which is nice. I'll probably end up taking it again in a year or two just to reinforce everything.
congrats! the MSF course is great. i took it last oct with no riding experience and learned alot. the military (air force) makes it mandatory for all it's riders. without the little card you aren't allowed to ride on the base or to register your bike. its free for us...atleast. we usually have two classes a month. and we also have the ARC (advanced riders course) at my base. you bring your own bike for that class. i'm gonna sign up for that course, too. the downside to riding on base is the funky orange reflective vest.
when i took the class i rode a little 250cc. the front brake handle was loose and kept falling forward. so i had to reach out to hit the brakes. when i let go the 1st time i rolled on the throttle and did a wheelie. :o didn't loose control but that was kinda scary. hehe!
