I just started playing 'World of Warcraft', an online massive multiplayer fantasy adventure game. The game is unbelievably addictive. I've met alot of great people, had alot of fun, and lost alot of sleep. After the kids are asleep my wife and I are in the game, hacking our way into the legends of heros. :)
I am curious if anybody here is playing the game. If we're on the same realm we can find each other in the world, unless we are opposite factions.
Wow! I checked out the Blizzard site and some of the screenshots were amazing! I played Diablo II for a while and I know alot of people still do...you'd think they'd have given it up for WoW by now...WoW makes Diablo II look like Frogger in comparison. It's really amazing what they are doing with MMPs now. I can't wait to see the Matrix online if they ever het around to releasing it.
How far along are you? If I get it you'll have to give me your username so we can hook up so I can kick your arse. :)
Yes yes and yes.
WoW is a lifestyle. As is the GS.
I have characters on Stonemaul, Kilrogg, Burning Blade, Firetree, and Boulderfist.
The majority of my time is spent with Blackiron on Boulderfist.
Sign on and we can work at getting our "mounts" to cycle around on together.
I DID play it, got boring real quick and i went back to SWG. I ahve a lvl 17 tauren druid if anyone wants to purchase him :). Comes wit the game box and cd's :). hehe, its fun for a while, but it got old quick for me.
OH Beta tested the matrix online too, its fun but they have more work to do IMO.

I don't have characters in either of those realms. I'm in Thuderhorn and Khadgar. Pick a realm where you have a low level character and I'll start a character and meet you. Let me know if you are Horde or Alliance. If enough people form GSTwin play the game we'll have to start up a guild and call it something cheesy like GS Apocolypse or Hell's 500's.

I don't see myself getting bored that quick, I already have a character over level 17. The upper levels seems to be where the fun really starts. If you get bored with the mundane quests then go get into and all out war with the other side. I've gotten into a few wars and they are a blast, even though I was low level by comparison and got my butt smoked pretty early on. :o
If you still have an active account give it one more try with some friends from GSTwin.

I can and will start a new character to get into the game at the ground level with some folks from GSTwin. We cna kick each others butts all day or we can group together and go kick other's butts. Its all good fun. :thumb:
Ill think about it, I may put my char on hold on SWG until the next expansion. ill le tyou know.
Was in the beta for WoW, but I didn't like it all that much. MMO games should focus a lot on the social aspects and WoW just didn't have enough of it for me. I've been trying out The Matrix for the last week. This one wont last either. Very buggy and slow, but that's nothing new for a starting MMO game.
I'm very big into Star Wars Galaxies, though. Have been playing that since early beta. The new expansion is gonna change the entire interface of the game so that's going to be interesting. Anyone playing on the Bria server?
Nah im on starsider. I think i might move soon though, action on starsider is dyin down. Im really lookin forward to ROTW.
Bria seems to be the most active right now.

Are you kidding? My daughter has been playing for only a couple of weeks and has a 'friends' list that spans the globe. Her character hardly ever levels up because she spends her time 'chatting' with a huge variety of friends. They quest just to get enough money to buy gifts for each other.
I personally only socialize enough to assemble a group capable of getting the job done wether its acheiving quests or smiting the self-rightous Alliance (I love playing the bad guys in this game, as the undead you can feast upon the corpses of your enemies....yum).
I play with a friend from out-of-state that I used to only see about 2 times a year and now we play WOW together almost every night.
I've been playing for about a month now.
For the horde!!
anyway, i have a lvl 54 shaman on Burning Legion if anyone wants to look me up, char name is "bulbol"
i'll help you out since you're a fellow gs'er =)
its a great game. a lot better and simpler imo than EQ. I played eq for a while but got turned off with the "must have a group" mentality and the kill stealing etc.
so yeah, anyone wants to play let me know...like i said, i'm on burning legion =)
edit: tonight i'll be on most of the night since i'm leaving the country for 2 weeks. so look me up tonight if you want and i'll add you to my small guild :)
I may go back over summer, i may be taking a new job soon that would allow fo rmore time too.
So I've decided that I am going to buy the game tonight. Any tips on what race/class to choose and what side to be on would be appreciated. It would be cool if we could all play on the same team so let's decide if it's good or bad. I don't care either way.
Ideally we would build a team of different classes to cover each area of combat.

i'm on burning legion server, its on a mid population level. whatever you do avoid the high population servers because they lag like hell.
well like i said i Play horde side. Shaman lvl 54 now, been playing for a month. I could guide you guys for a bit and help you on quests since i pretty much know the progression of the horde side.
1. horde side - underdogs, not pretty scenery like alliance.
2. alliance - bad pvp'ers. noobs, gankers =)

That's fine. I'm sure it's perfect for a lot of people. It's definitely not as extensive as other MMO games, though (ie. Galaxies, Everquest, Anarchy Online, etc...). I have a lot of experience with these games and WoW is much more focused on its combat system where as the other MMO games are more balanced with combat and non-combat professions.
Roguegeek, anarchy online looks cool from some of the screenshots I have seen. In your opinion which is the best RPG? SWG looks cool too...well, all of the Sony RPGs look cool.
Only computer game I play is Nascar 2002. Always wanted to drive a cup car and I missed by quite a few years the chance to ever get in one. Now I can race to my heart's content. If you have a good wheel and pedals it is really quite a blast, especially when you turn the competition up into the upper 90's percentage-wise. Love the little vertical twin and the forum dedicated to it.
C.......
That looks fun!! My computer isn't fast enough :(
Ok, I bought it and am installing it right now. I'm proly going to play horde cuz it looks like that's what's hip. Von, what side are you on?
ok i know that this may not be the rite place to be asking these questions but i might as well:
1.after you buy the initial game do you need to be paying anymore fees for the battle.net connection
2.is there any expansion sets i should be worried about buying BEFORE i get the main version
Dom: Welcome aboard. I have played both Alliance and Horde but my most played character is Horde. It seems that there are fewer adolescence in Horde so the probability of getting a good group is better. I play in the Khadgar realm most. If you have a character let me know its name and I'll look you up. Chinox22x is in Burning Legion also. Let me know when you are ready to go and I'll start a new character in Horde or Alliance, which ever one you choose. The first 6 level you should stay in your home city and complete all the quests. From there venture out and the world is you oyster, though some area will be so ttough that just running (and I mean running) through them is lethal.
captain: Cost include the initial cost of the game, $50, and a monthly fee after the first month. Monthly fee is $17 I think. No expansions yet, however, after initial installation you will have to take about 45 minutes to download (free) the latest version with updates and patches.
Von, what race/profession are you? Like I said earlier I should probably choose something that compliments the other players in my group. I have been playing a gnome hunter and the gun is fun but my coworker says that they aren't as strong as the wizards when you get to high levels. That seems to be the case with all of the RPGs, that the warrior types are stronger at lower levels and the wizards always clean house at the top levels.
werd werd, Mal'Ganis is where it's at.
60 UD Rogue
34 Tauren Warrior
25 Orc Shaman
yeah, i'm a big big nerd. but if anyone wants to start a new char on Mal'Ganis i've got a mid sized guild up and running for the horde.
I do! I'll be playing tonight...what should I choose? I'll be on around 5:30PST.
choose whatever you want man, we've got most everything already, so no spots need to be filled, just anything you like.
when you get on, either look for dominix, darzuk, or loadstone. i should be on one of them tonight at some point.
Sweet. Then what would you recommend? I just started yesterday so if you had to start with a new char what would you do? vOr are they all pretty much equal at higher levels?
well being equal doesn't say anything about their utility. every class has a fairly equal chance at killing another class in pvp, if played well. sure, some classes have slight advantages over other classes, but that means that while a class might have an easier time killing you, you have an easier time killing a dif class.
really what it comes down to is the role that you want to play in a group. rogues straight damage dealers, warriors contain monsters to hold their damage, priests heal, or if shadow priests, do good damage and heal slightly less effectively, druids are good secondary healers, or if played in feral form can mimic a warrior or rogue while being slightly less powerful than a pure class, hunters are dps with a pet to help the main tank by off-tanking additional mobs, warlocks are like hunters, but casting based instead of weapons, and with more variety in their pets, and shaman are kind of a jack of all trades. in my guild we have a decent split of all classes, though i don't think we have any druids. so if you care to play one of those, that'd be cool. but unlike warriors and priests (the necessary staples of a group) druids are nice but nut necessary, so feel free to play anything you want. no matter what you choose, chances are we can stick you in a group, and it will work out great.
also, i'm not sure if you're a power gamer, or more of an experience one. meaning, do you want items and help from the get go, or would you prefer to play through pure and only use things you find? both can be fun, i just wanted to know so i can tell people how to interract with you.
my guild is mostly real life friends, with some people from ingame in addition. i think we have a lvl 10 in our guild who could play with you, and a few other people have been thinking about starting new characters as well. however, the first time you're really going to need to start grouping comes around lvl 18 for your first instance. so you could easily catch up to our pack of mid 20 members and be grouping with them in no time as well.
Zarathustra and Dom: I just started a new Toll Warrion in the Mal'Ganis realm. My name is 'Vonjin'. Add that to your 'Friends' list and send me a message if you see me on. I have already added your three names to my 'Friends' list Zara. However, other than chatting I don't see your high level characters doing much interacting with my low level peon just yet. Though in the future we may stand side-by-side and deliver punishment to the Forces of Light. :)
hey that's cool man, you can team up with dom, and my friend the 10th lvl shaman soon enough. and mid 20's arn't that hard to get to, and we have a pack of 5 there, and 6 more in their low to mid 30's, a few more in their 40's, and me and another at 50+. and hey, we're welcome to new players anyway, trying to beef our ranks a bit and get some new blood into the guild so we do have people of all lvls around so that we can maximize grouping. so if you two find people your lvl to play with also who are looking for some good guys and good players, you're welcome to put them up for joining. (and by offering to let you two join, i'm already assuming you're not asses  )
edit: and if you're hoping to have some idea as to the kind of guy i am, other than motorcycles and nerdery, i'm sure you can can a taste of my personality from the ghey marriage thread, but other than that, it's been a long time since i've been on these boards (i'm a die hard liberal).
I started a Tauran Druid tonight. Good times. Made it to level 7. Will look for you both tomorrow night. My name is Hallow.
Dom: I see your last post was posted at 2:04 am. Somebody is addicted alraedy.
I'll try to get on this evening and plug your name into my friends list. We can work aour ways toward Crossroads and meet, share quests and help each other out.
chinox22x: If you're up to playing another character then create a new Horde character in Mal'Ganis and join Dom and myself or our long journey to the Halls of Heros.... well.....perhaps not that grand, but anyway, it'll be a lot of of good ole' fashion butt whoop'in.
naah, goin planetside (addictive as hell) :x , i go to work, all i do while at work, is plan missions lol
Yeah, I get wrapped up in RPGs. I look at it this way; as a result I'll go to the bar less and as a result spend less $ and drink less. OK, so my pool game will go all to hell but I can live with that, ok maybe I can't but it'll help me save up $ for the pool table that I'm putting in the garage. :thumb:
or you can save up fer them tights lol :nana:
Has PS gotten any better since beta? How many people still play it?
Quote from: yamahonkawazukior you can save up fer them tights lol :nana:
Jerk. You told me that you gained too much weight over the holidays and that all your tights made your butt look big and that you were giving me all of your old ones. What's the deal?
oi, sorry i wasn't on last night like i said i would be. kind of got drunk with the roomates instead. my roomate came home with a 1/2 gallon jug of rogue dead guy ale for me, and that, combined with a pbr, was all she wrote. i will be on tonight though, and possibly mid afternoonish, after maitenance gets over.
That reminds me, 1$ pints of PBR at my local watering hole...might not be on as early as I would on any other day than Tue.
Did anyone else here have to download a 61MB patch today? I am just asking because that seems like a pretty big path to have to download. Also I just installed the game a couple of days ago so I'm just nervous that my computer is acting funny.
heh, that's the real patch man. lots of new content added (new instance), as well as numerous bug fixes (thank god). are the servers even back up yet though? mal'ganis has been down all day. :(
(http://server3.uploadit.org/files/yamahonkawazuki-ps2.jpg). naah just planetside for me  my username "gstwin" :nana:
It took my computer over 6 hours to download the upgrade/patch. It was after 11:00 pm before I could even play the game again, so needless to say, I wasn't on last night.
I think the download took so long because everybody and their mother was downloading the patch at the same time. My wife went on after midnight and noticed that the realm was sparsley populated, possibley because most folks who would have been playing at that time were still downloading the upgrade/patch.
i got on for about 2 hours last night, after 12:30am cst. it was low pop, and after 2 hours i lagged, WoW locked, and i was booted. along with the patch being downloaded, there was an issue with the patch causing disconns, so they had to retool all of that. just a bad day for blizzard.
How many people still play PS? I beta tested it and really e njoyed it.
as far as i know its doin well, dont know the # of people playin, but its doin pretty good so far. damned addictive :x  , heh plus theyre (sony online) is hiring) :dunno:
oo hiring for what positions, need info my friend, PM me, lol.
cant find the info here, but check
www.planetside.com ?it used to post when i logged in less than 2 weeks ago
What's your take on buying gold off ebay? $18 will get you 100g. That seems like a pretty damn good deal to me, considering that I could play for a week straight with the sole intent of making 100g and I still wouldn't be able to. So just from an effeciency standpoint it seems like the way to go. It's considered cheating by alot of players which is why I'm a little hesitant to make a purchase.
well, at your lvl yeah, it's a lot of money. but honestly, at higher lvls 100g is nothing. i could pump out that much in a day easily. i'd say keep your money, if you're really inneed, just ask me and i'll give you some. as to the cheating part, meh, i don't think so. i just don't think it's necessarily smart to pay money for things you could easily do yourself (and seeing as acquiring wealth is part of the game, you're just kind of ruining it). but that's my take.
I was wondering if it would make me lose interest in the game...like I have in the past with Diablo2 and GTA when I learn the cheats and see all of the prizes preternaturally...proly.
And why do I feel stoned after I play for a few hours? I actually feel like I am a tauren druid in real life. It's a little surreal.
i'm back from vacation. i'll be on tonight. i played a little last night and reached lvl 55. been gone for almost 3 weeks.
again on burning legion realm, char name BULBOL. hit me up if you're on. i'm on EST.
Im gonna re-activate my WoW account tonight (SWG went to crap). What server are you all on? Horde or alliance? Im debating between a hunter or rouge, prolly a hunter.
ANyone?? i wanna mak emy char tonight, lol.

Gonna be picking up a copy of Battlefield 3 and Guild Wars 2 when they come out.. gonna be sweeett! :woohoo:
Holy crap, old thread. I remember playing WoW back in the day. 6x Gladiator Drakes SUP KIDS. Lol. f%$k that game.
Mortal Kombat ftw!
LOL i remember "power levelling" expiditions. wed go in with a person at top rank/level. go in so far, then theyd tell us to "wait here" theyd go in further, draw out tthe enemy, lay waste to them, and wed gain a level every three runs. i gained 15 levels in 1 night :police:
