Title: Calc Test- Help me with Implicit Differentiation.
Post by: VTNewb on March 16, 2005, 02:09:23 PM
Big Calc test tomorrow, I got the mathlab with the crazy questions down, what I screw up on all the time is implicit differentiation.

4Cos(x)Sin(y)=1

4cos(x)Cos(y)y'+Sin(y)y'(-4sin(x))=0

Basically, I need to get it to say

y'=blah

Save me.

Thank the Lord I got the Calc over several decades ago. Funny thing was, once I got into engineering I never once used it. Lotsa Trig but no Calculus. Which is probably just as well since I never got past more than a rudimentary understanding of it. Just wait till you're in Thermo!! Calc will have seemed like a cake-walk  :lol: . Bebe has been taking some classes dealing with some Earth-Science stuff and she had some problems relating to Entropy...duh...I realized I don't understand Entropy like I though I did. Love the little GS and this forum.
