Title: Cant start my bike!!! help
Post by: andre00 on March 18, 2005, 04:38:27 PM
Just bought a bike from a friend. 93 gs500e. Need help. I didnt have the key so I opened the headlight and found the wires that connect to the ignition. Orange wire and some other, two grey wires. I got a switch connected so everything works well. I just cant get it started. The engine cranks over but it wont start. I charged the battery, checked plugs (gap and spark). I installed the gas tank so I was thinking maybe the engine has no fuel inside it. Is there a way to prime it? Like on a lawn mower?

turn the petcock to prime, let the gas flow into the engine then give it a whirl...

Ok, try spraying some starter fluid in the airbox. If that starts it but it doesnt stay running at all, its your carbs or your fuel flow. Actually spray a tiny bit in each spark plug hole... if that works, its not your ignition.
