Title: Christina got a new friend:)
Post by: Dima26 on March 19, 2005, 10:01:38 PM
I bought a car today   :thumb:

This is new RX-8 (04 model left-over at dealership). The price was pretty good and I couldn't resist. Before that I was driving an 11-year old car which gave me more and more problems every year. It was a pity to change it, I was very attached to it, but finally the time came.

Ok, now about the details. It is essentially a basic model with some factory ground effects (were added), no GPS, DVD, stuff like that. It has 6 speed transmission, RWD, and 238 horsepower. So far, I am very happy with it. Comes with lo-jack and 5-year warranty and service pack (oil changes, etc).

By the way, Christina is my bike's name

Dima.

Color? :P

Congrads!  I love the seats in those things, got to feel the comfort at the Moscone show the last time I went :)

How is the torque on that thing?  I've heard it's got squat so you really need to rev it.  I love the anthracite color btw

The color is dark-blue, similar to my bike:)

The engine likes to be revved up. The torque is pretty impressive in the second half of the RPM.

Congrats! :thumb:

I was considering one of those earlier this year, but had to take a pass for now. My insurance woulda been too high. I decided to wait till next year when some points drop off of my licence.

Sounds like a good car for a track day, not too much electronic crap in the cockpit to distract you.

Gotta ask, what was the 11 year old car?

That was Ford Probe. Here is a several-month old pic:

Here is a link to some of the pics of the new baby: (not 56K friendly). Sorry about the size, didn't have a chance to compress them.

Next-gen Probe/MX6 and Escort/Protege are sleeper cars. Very well built with engines producing power numbers much higher in proportion to their size. Biggest problem with these seem to be the ignition systems and a few brake problems...nothing major really. If you have the 2.5 v6 iteration in your Probe I'd say you've already figured out it can suck the headlites off of a Z-24. Not saying the Z is a bad car but that little Mazda frickin' flat out screams and begs to be run hard. Just remember to replace the plug wires every year or so and keep an ignitor handy in case the ignition decides to take a crap. Yeh, pretty color. Love my Baby G and this forum.

Cool car, man, congrats! :thumb:
I think the design of that thing is outright brilliant. I love the (almost) sedan usability with the (almost) sportscar body. The themed use of the rotary triangle on the design just shows how attention to detail makes a huge difference. That color's definitely one of my favorites.
Had the privelage of getting behind the wheel of once once, I was a little wierded out by the drive. I felt like the powerband was different that what I was used to. My vtec integra is a car that you have to rev the $hit out of to get real power, and I'd heard that the RX08 was the same. It actually is different, it feels kind of like a really powerful electric motor. Fun to drive, though- and the sound of that motor is sweet, sounds like a Jet engine.
Enjoy her!

Yeah the sound is funny  Or is it after straightflow muffler on my Probe? It sounds a little similar to a remotely controlled toy car. :) There are some exhaust systems which are quite cheap (Greddy and Borla ~ $450) that should fix that but I think, I will keep it stock for a while.
