hey all,
i just wanted to know if anyone knows if there's any slip on/full exhausts out there for the 2004 model. i've checked with my dealer and they can't find anything out there. and i haven't had any luck on the net. but in any event, i'd very much prefer to not have to jet it. any and all input would be appreciated.
thnx
I doubt there's anything that doesn't require you to re-jet. The main reason most people go to the expense of adding aftermarket exhaust is to increase performance. Increased performance comes from getting more air into, and then out of the engine. This makes it necessary to add more fuel (aka re-jet).
If you added an exhaust that didn't require a re-jet, it wouldn't be making any more power compared to a stocker and few people would be willing to justify the cost. Even if an exhaust existed that just sounded better, that would indicate a more open exhaust path and would still probably require a re-jet. The GStwin's are jetted lean from the factor anyway so basically anything you do to them to gain performance will require a re-jet to run right.
It's not as tough as you might think to re-jet. Srinath also offers a re-jetting service for as little as ~$45 bucks if you're not mechanically inclined.
It's worth the effort, even if you get someone else to do it. You'd be amazed at the difference a pipe, filter, and re-jet makes. It's like a whole different bike. It's the difference between having to worry about fast cars and not.
Wileyco and my choker flange ???
Cool.
