Title: Frame Sliders on a GS500F
Post by: Phaedrus on March 21, 2005, 10:15:31 AM
Ok, I bought some frame sliders for my GS500F on Ebay. The seller also sells them on his website, which I can post if anyone is interested. But anyway, how do I install them?? They did not come with instructions. Any tips?

You better give us a link to that website.

Didn't know there were frame sliders for the GS.  Maybe case guards, but. . .

It is pretty bad business when installation instructions are not included.
Are these them: http://www.venhorstrocks.com/SUZUKI_GS500F_PARTS.html

If so, they mount to the fairing brackets somehow. But doubtful they will do much other than bend in a drop. Hate to see how they hold up in a slide.

Yes, those are the frame sliders from that website. :) And yeah, I thought it was pretty shoddy to not include instructions either. They look like the stoppers you would find on a roller skate, thats what they remind me of anyway. And there is a hex bolt that goes through them. It seems it would be common sense to know how to put them on, but if common sense were common then everyone would have it.

Anyone have any info?

That would be great. I am going to see how they look on mine. He sells them for like $50 on his site but I got them for $35. I don't know how they are even going to look because I have no clue really where they go or how they go on, so I can't even gauge if I like them or not. haha. It's crazy. I see the pic on the site with them, and they don't look too horrible, but things look a lot different in person. So we'll see.

Thanks!

If you haven't looked under the fairing, this is the frail little bracket those sliders bolt too...

I was going to call this place tomorrow since they dont have a price listed here, but if I try to click on any of the part #'s they say they are closed for a week or two (outdated?).  Hmm, will see though.  And if they mount to the same point at the pic 2 posts above, yeah I dont think that would do much good in a drop.

I saw someone post about "similiar" sliders on the engine mount above, Im sure its all a trial and error thing but anyone else get any further?  I pick up my bike tomorrow and the fiarings are the first thing to come off for now for a few weeks (Im a beginner and well I like the "naked" look more until I become a bit more experienced ;o) so I will look and see where there are mounting points etc when the fairings are off and respond back here.
