Title: Chain Question
Post by: Daniely on March 23, 2005, 04:08:20 PM
Well, I'm in need of a new chain, im sure anyone who read my post knows why. Anyways, what type of chain should I get? I finished getting all my replacement parts for the CBR (20 bucks spent so far for a sprocket cover, and some uhh "customization" to the tail/seat to fix the cracks (ill get pics :) )). I konw I need an O-ring chain, but I dont know the best place (cheapest price) to get one. Anyone have any idea's??

I run a EK 530 ZVX X-ring chain on my TLR. It has one of the highest tensile strengths of the chains I have seen. It is only available with a rivet link. This is too much chain for your bike though.

www.SprocketSpecialists.com should have what you need and some of the best prices.

I put an RK chain on my GS, got it off eBay.  You can get them from Chapparal too I think and they come with a 20,000 mile warranty or something.

DID makes a good chain... or at least they did(pun intended).

I'm evil, but seriously, up until I heard about your DID failure I would have recommended them.  They make a several different #520 chains though, a couple rated for up to 250cc(dirt bikes) and a few rated for up to 700cc.  What I think might have happened is that yours got mixed up somehow, either at the factory or somewhere in the middle... shitty but that's the only reason I can think that it would have snapped like that...such a freak accident.

I'll second the RK...pricy sunza bitches, but then again, so are DID and look where that got you.
