just thought i'd post this pic, for the curious, yet inexperienced
old on the left, new on the right

keywords: brake fluid DOT4 color
Holy Cats, looks like rust from something iron got in the brake fluid!
Do not let your brake fluid get anywhere near that color! Bad Juju.
what ya use the syringes for..wink wink
j/k
But man does the fluid look nasty, is it from the front or rear?
My sight window for the front looks like I should change it, its pretty brown
that's from rear... front wasn't much better. to be honest i didn't think it was that bad.. the little window's deceiving
i would guess it's the first time it's ever been changed (it's a 2001 gs).
the syringes are from work and they've come in handy on more than one occasion in my gs tinkering experience
so that color aint cool? :o ..im a newbie so i guess i need to replace mine... ...drain it and bleed it right? is it hard (bleeding)? :dunno:
i used cummuterguy's method (http://gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=126937#126937) and it works pretty well.
the only thing i would recommend is getting a piece of soft tubing that will fit snuggly into the bleed hole -- much less mess that way. and also, the front one bled well, but the rear brake takes forever to drain by gravity (not enough height difference).
That is a good reson to change the fluid every year or two. Brake fluid is cheap and easy to change, usually in less than an hour.
