Where can I get GS frame and tank factory paint colors? :)
AHA! I knew someone would need the document I am working on! :thumb:
The factory paint schemes are available here. (http://www.gstwin.com/gs_colors.htm)
The tank and bodywork tape sets are a totally different matter. I have a Word doc that decodes the color codes listed for ALL the years of the GS. I am soliciting input from STOCK GS owners for pictures of their body/tank decals (tape sets). I am inserting the pics into the doc at the location of the the decoded color code. Scratches are OK and some aftermarket decals are too. The idea is to match a set with the Suzuki color code.
Usually the fiche shows a side panel (LH or RH) with a color code. Then further down the page it lists a several tape sets with, again, a color code. Some years had 4 combinations possible. :? Thus the need for a visual guide to the colors and tape sets.
Some of the fiche sites show different tape sets as discontinued. Some show the part number with a color code. Usually that code is broken down into more colors but no mention of the scheme of the decal. The GS had some crazy tape sets over the years.
OK GStwinners, here's your chance to contribute. Use my profile to find my email address and send me pics of your STOCK tanks and body work decals. One side is sufficient. As I get them in and inserted into the doc, I will post a list of what I have and what I need to fill it in.
After the blanks are filled in, I will make the document available to the site as a resource for questions like this one.
Starwalt...
Or ANYONE :thumb:
Are you saying that the "Paint Codes" are listed inside the rear covers?
I just bought a business where I can touch up car bumpers etc... Anyway I can now mix my own paint in very small ammounts to make "touch up" or Paint a whole bike.
My question is where to find the code on the bike or online

Year: 2004 Make: Suzuki Model(s): GS500F,
Manufacturer's Code Paint Name
YC2 Candy Grand Blue
OJW Pearl Still White
Y9H Pearl Lively Yellow (Factory Variance Color)
.. Or have you finished the "Paint Code" list you had been working on? I have looked at the Color chart on the site here but I need the actual Numbers :thumb:
Color Rite (http://colorrite.com) has all the color codes for all model years up to 2006.
Color Rite can only handle American colors unless you have the factory color code. Then you have to email them.
Quick paint question--I have a 94 that was originally purple. The first owner had it repainted to yellow (sorry Pandy). Now the tank has a few rock chips that I would like to touch up, but no one seems to carry the yellow touch up pens. What do I need to do to match the color if I don't have the code?

Hmmm... Color Rite?
No colors for any 95 Suzuki !?!

I just want to know if it is marked on the bike anywhere :icon_mrgreen:

Nope. The real clue to what colors are available are the parts listings. Painted parts show a color code after the Suz number. Till 2004, it was only the tank, side panels, grab handle, and tail connector piece to worry about. The color charts I've posted on my site were gleaned from the net and I have attempted to decipher them mainly for the benefit of the decal/tape sets.
The decal/tape sets usually are a color code that is a combination of two or more color codes!

As before, to my knowledge, there are none on the bike. You will have to know what color was for the year...and as you have found, some years don't have listing from Color-Rite. Dig it out of the parts or look over my post of the color/tape set guide.
BTW, the color guide is another project that needs cleaning up and tuning for quicker web access/use. Anyone game?

Don't tell scratch that :P
Yep, gurlz--with boobies on them and everything.
I bought a little bottle of yellow touch up paint off e-bay, but it turned out to be too dark (sort of a mustard yellow). A friend commented "that looks worse than the rock chip." I took the bike to my local Napa shop, but they said they couldn't do anything without the original paint code. What to do?

OK..
I found this...

SWEET!
Now I have to try some of the codes in my paint software and see if I can get the tints to match :thumb:

Good. I hadn't looked at sanjay's stuff in a while. I told him to lift my data and use it as needed. I still want to be able to click on a code and then show the example color on a bike pic.
Good luck and happy tinting. :thumb:
