Hey guys, I just signed up today. It seems like you've got an awesome community here with some top-notch members. My name is Ryan, I'm from the Chicago area, and I'm actually picking up my first bike, a 1997 GS500E, on Saturday.
I'm so freakin excited about it and I absolutely cannot wait to get on it and ride. However, my only concern is that the bike is missing the right side mirror. I've been doing some searching online for motorcycle mirrors, and I haven't been having much luck. I think I have an idea of what type of mirror it takes, judging from the pictures I've seen of a seperate mirror, but I don't wanna order anything until I know for sure.
So, I guess what I'm asking of you guys is if you could possibly list some types/models of mirrors that would fit my bike (and it wouldn't help if they have a touch of style, either ;) ). I would really appreciate any help you guys are willing to give me!

look up your local Parts Unlimited dealer (//www.parts-unlimited.com/dealers.html)....I've used many Emgo mirrors in the past....cheap and effective.....Good Luck....and Welcome!!!
Anything with a 10 mm stem bolt should work, correct me if Im wrong as Im not 100 percent sure.
bikebandit.com offers OEM parts so if your other mirror is stock you can pick up a stock mirror at this site...

Yep, don't sweat the mirror. Any mirror except ones designed for Yamaha should fit. I bought one stock one but since I needed 2 I ordered the Emgo mirrors off Ebay. Their quality is not up to par with the stock mirrors but they look great on the bike.

There is a site called www.jcwhitney.com that has a ton of different style mirrors that will fit the GS and they are all cheap. I went with the "sport" mirrors.
Does Napoleon still make mirrors? If they do, there's another option.

I use the bar end bicycle mirrors. They work pretty good too! And all you have to do is go to your local bicycle shop. If done right you can keep the bar end weights.

If you want to keep the stock mirror then go to bike bandit and just buy a right one.
I just bought two near spotless mirrors off of megz so my old right one might be available soon. No scratches, just used.
