Question for the GS racers. What slicks are you using and what sizes? If anyone is using slicks on stock rims please give me any infomation.
I currently run Dunlop DOT's. In the Ulralight class I can run slicks on stock size rims.

I have a Bridgestone slick on a front wheel. It is a GP rear tire mounted backwards. I can look later this weekend and post what size it is or contact Stickboy (Derek) at //www.dbmotorsportsracing.com, he is the one who mounted it. I have not tried the slick yet. Another option is the BT090, which is an awesome tire. It is a DOT tire but very sticky.

The Metzler M1 Sportech's will also get you all the way over. Super sticky. Good for the track but wear down ultra fast on the street...maybe you'll get 1000 miles out of them...hardly worth buying for anything other than the track.

Currently with a stock 3.5" rim a 140.
Whenever I make the bracket for the caliper and spacers, I will switch to a 4.5" Bandit 600 wheel that I have and run a 150.
The M1's should last longer than that on a GS. I may be putting them on my TL soon and expect to get 3000 miles out of them, which is typical of the rear.

Cool. I'm actually run the 150 Dunlop on the stock rim. I'm ready for a new front and I'm thinking of going with the BT090 if I can't find a slick that will fit. Let me know about the slick that stickboy mounted for you. Thanks.
Alright, maybe my estimate was a little low, but still...don't expect alot of miles out of them. 3000 on a tire is still at the lower end of the scale. I have about 500 miles on mine and it's getting pretty ragged.
The front slick is a 120/595R17 Bridgestone Racing Battleax. This is a rear tire mounted backward on the front and it is slightly larger in circumference than a BT090 110/70R17. I have the measurement here somewhere. This is a very soft tire. I got it thinking I would use it on a cooler day for that extra stick.
Thanks for all the info. Non related topic. Did you ever get the info on the head work and clearance you tested? You told me that you ran the GPZ pistons and I will probaly go that route. Wiseco does not make the 79MM pistons anymore. With the GPZ pistons it's a 547, correct? Thanks.

I have not done any milling to the head yet. Not sure if I will be since I have started looking into a 4 valve head. I can probably get a very close measurement though.
Correct, the GPZ 78mm pistons = 547cc
