Skipped out of work this am for religious reasons
Took a little ride around Lake Travis in Austin, TX and had the road to my self.
Almost got decapitated by a turkey vulture that I spooked by the side of the road, otherwise had a blast.
Anybody else got a Good Friday to Ride pic?

That's a sharp looking bike. I really like the looks of that, especially with the windsheild and the colors and all. I usually prefer the "sporty" fairing bikes like the "F", but that's damn sharp. NICE!!

Hello callmelenny,
I can relate to your experience with the turkey vulture. One day I was riding and came upon a turkey vulture sitting on a guard rail. Just before I passed him he decides to take off, and he flies right across my path. I struck him with my left hand going about 50 or 60 MPH. Man, did that hurt. Those things are harder than they look, and they look huge up close with their wings outstretched. The impact wrapped the clutch lever around my hand. I'm lucky it did not hit me in the head because I don't know if I could have kept the bike up after taking a blow like that.
Sorry, no Good Friday pic's. I'm spending the day working at the fire house. Looks like next week will bring some good weather for my first ride of the season.
Take care.
Bob

I find the more I see the GS w/o fairings, the more I like it. Especially that color man it's hot.
Ah... Spring ... Change the oil and mine will be on the road :D... Sometime this week, If i could only get off my lazy @$$...
Happy Easter, enjoy the weather, ride safe.

That is funny. I cropped that same mailbox out of my photo! That spot is one of the few places to pull off through there. Lime Creek road is a lot of fun but it is full of squids. I was out there last week and helped an 18 year old load the remains of his R1 into the back of pick up. Had 356 miles on the odometer! :o
I don't go on the weekends cause it it too dangerous with the squids and the rice rockets racing around.
Not to bring everybody's Easter weekend down, but I just got back from helping Daniely (Danny) load what is left of his CBRF4 into the back of our friend's pickup truck after a decreasing radius left-hander gave him the willies enough to where he stood it up on it's nose and drove off into the weedy, rocky ditch. Luckily, no really big rocks, not a really big ditch, so a messed up shoulder and thrashed bike should be all that it cost him.
He's alright, we dropped him off at his house so his sister/mom could take him to the hospital, haven't heard back from him since then, but I'm sure he'll be on here updating everybody with picts of the trashed bike once he's got energy to get online.
Had a nice dent in forehead of his helmet, tore the knee out of his jeans, and scuffed the shoulder on his Teknic, so yes, gear IS good!
Have a safe weekend everyone!!
