Title: Rides in pa.
Post by: rich on March 26, 2005, 06:19:14 AM
I live in pittsburgh and I love to tour on my 04 gs. I like the allegheny national forest rout 666 through the beautiful forest up north to warren co. at the reservoir. Its a great ride from pgh and it takes about 400 miles round trip. What rides have people taken that live in PA?

Been to Kinzua Dam at the Alleheny Res. several times by bike.  Rt 27 east out of Meadville and north to Rt 6 near Warren is a great ride to Kinzua and back to NE OH on 6 is also a good ride.

Also been to bike nite at Sharon, PA many times by various routes.  Another ride I like is east out of Jefferson on OH 167/PA 198 to Woodcock Res and then on to 27 on 198 and then south on 173 to Cochronton and back up 285 to Pymatuning Res. and back into OH.  Nice circle route around Meadville.

I hooked up with a guy my age at Geneva, OH who lived near Erie,PA and we rode the roads of western PA several times a week for several years together.  He died of prostate cancer a couple years ago.  We hit many, many of the roads of western PA together.

I take the back roads of OH to East Liverpool and then to Little Washington on old 18 bypassing PGH when I go to visit my brother there.  My parents were born and raised in Washington.  I lived in Ben Avon and Avalon down the Ohio River from PGH when I was a kid.  Great memories of western PA.   :thumb:

I live in State College, and I periodically ride Rt26 out to Huntingdon.  Also love taking 144 up through Renovo... that road is CHOICE.

Now and then I head down south of Lewisburg around Carlisle area.  There are some great roads out there as well.
