Title: How does the 15T front sprocket do at 60-70?
Post by: Focer on March 26, 2005, 05:27:45 PM
I was thinking about droping my front sprocket to a 15 but, I just want to make sure that I could still cruze at 60-70 on the freeway, without the rev.s getting too high.

60 is 100 km/h?
70 is 120?

if so than with 120 you'll be doing 6000 rpm with a warmed up engine
i have 15 tooth for more than a year its one of the best mods for the gs and its cheap, i also sometimes use 14 tooth just for town  :P
my topspeed went up whan i started using the 15 t, i expected it to go down but it went up :)

i'd want to know how it does in the 85-100mph range...  that's more along where I cruise at. 60-70 would get you rear-ended hard around here.

140 km/h is 7000 rpm and about 160 i don't really know, never payed attention on that

i almost always ride 140 - 7000 in 6 and after a while u get used to that
a drawback is higher fuel consumption and maybe higher oil usage (higher rpm spits out more)

roughley my measurement with the 15t front sprocket is
5k-60mph
6k-70mph
7k-80mph ect.
This a rough guess As I dont have a working speedo right now.
And yes my top speed went WAY up when I droped the sprocket.
Had my buddy pace me at 120mph, according to his speedo.
