Title: lights out?
Post by: dolepineapple on March 28, 2005, 03:08:24 AM
Hi folks,
long time since i made a post here, but 2 days ago, 'Rebecca' (my gs500F) rose from the dead!  Thank God for spring!

As I was riding yesterday, I noticed that my turn signals stopped working, but my brake and headlights were working fine.  I was like, what the heck, they were just working when I turned the bike on 20 minutes ago and while on the road, they just stopped working. . . any ideas or suggested fixes?

Any help would be AWESOME!

cheers,
joel

If both signals quit...relay...or wiring for same.

If one signal quit...a bulb...probably....or wiring to those pairs.

If warranty in place....Srinath Solution.

thanks starwalt

what exactly should I do to check it? I'm sorry, I've never dealt with this before. . .

both signals are out
not even the turn signal indicator on my dashboard lights up,
but my high/low beams and brake lights work

One thing you can do is pull the relay and place a short piece of wire in the connector in place of the relay.

Turn the ignition on.

Flip the turn signal switch left and right.  If the wiring and bulbs are good the turn signals will light up but not flash.  That means the relay is bad.
