how difficult is is to take EVERYTHING apart so that i can paint the frame?
i counted forks, engine, wheeles, shocks, tank...is that it?
check out powder coating since you taking it all apart. its actually pretty cheap and really durable. I think it would be like 50 to 75 here at my local place, thats for wheels too. But ya i think you couted everything except for the battery box, electical stuff and the tail light. peace
Don't forget about brake lines and electrics going everywhere. I've thought about it too, but trying to get all the electrical stuff back the way it went on gives me nightmares...

depends how much time you have. i did it last winter. it will probably take you the better part of day to re-assemble everything. use zip lock baggies and label your parts as you take them off. what held me up the most was one of the wires for the starter got disconnected inside the headlight bucket. took me a while to find it. i looked into powdercoating when i did mine. most places around me wanted $175-$200. you should be able to have your frame bead/sand blasted for about $50, which is worth it. it will take off all the old paint and any rust and give you a nice clean surface to paint.
Stripping down to the frame is a big job, and not something I'd want to tackle coming into riding season. There is a riding season up there, isn't there :P

lol...it's coming...soon...haha...
just a thought...I know a friend can paint it for me...thinking about going black like the 04s or going CHROME!!!...lol...
and i'm not gonna do it during riding season...you crazy? :nana:
Its not too bad, I did mine over the winter. The hardest part is getting all the wires and cables ran in there correct places again, the rest is realatively simple. You can check out my photobucket album in my sig. and see all that I had coated.
