This is an R1 tail light, cost me $5 on ebay and took about 5 minutes to install (not counting going to buy two bolts from the hardware store fo 20 cents)

I tried making it an image but I'm inept...

None taken, they were like that when I bought the bike at the end of last summer and I haven't had the bike up here until just now so I am going to have to do something about it, so for now please ignore the signals and look at the tail light only  :)

My GS and your GS are nearly identical(not that there aren't a million black w/white wheels).  Well, except that tail light, those blinkers  :o , and I cut about a foot off my rear fender.

Tail light looks good!

love the tailights but i may be biased cause i have the same ones. now just get a tail light integrator and you can get rid of the blinkers altogether.  :thumb:

That looks good.   :thumb: Can you take a close up shot?  I am curious as to how the plastic around it looks.  Ideally I would want a taillight that is large enough that I would have to trim the plastic around it to fit so there aren't big gaps between the light and the plastic....otherwise I guess I could always glass in the cracks.

BTW, that hair looks like it's on it's last leg.  *rimshot*

That is not an 89 and has canadian clip on;s ... made till 92 or so for canada ... third pic ... look at the sub frame weld ... as well as the cover for fitting a wrench on the shock top bolt ... 89's dont have either ...
Cool.

Title: Well
Post by: The Buddha on March 31, 2005, 10:47:39 PM
Well I bought a set from KevinC few years ago and found entirely differnt clip on's ... and they were from an 91 ... so I said huh ...
Working for Suzuki ... man that's like working for the devil man ... I'd rather be outside poking the devil with better stuff I make ...   ... Like ghetto and low rent Jesse james ... He was going to start a real motorcycle company ... what happened to that ... anyone know ...
Cool.

I don't know if Jesse James was going to start a company but I know that a guy that works in his shop started one called American Cafe Racers.  He was talking about it on the streetfighter forum at cycleforums.  70sCamGuy talked to him a little bit.  The guy seems really cool...designed and built the motorcycle from the ground up and it didn't look too shabby.  Not as nice as the Wraith but not too shabby.  Had one of those big crate Vtwins in it.

The light looks good, but it's hard to stop staring at those turn signals. That has to be your next mod, please lol :thumb:

Did your use caulk on your tail light?

I'll have a close up for you soon, and no chaulking was used, I'm thinking of getting some fiber glass to fill in the little holes around the side and maybe build a set of fairings this summer if I have time
