Order now and I'll guarantee you'll have a flange, then buy wileyco ... and in a week or so flanges will be sent out. If wileyco is sold out ... We're out of luck ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Sinrath,
is it too anal to use a clamp for where the flange slips on the header?
Not at all ... knock yourself out ... anyway They fit tight ... I dont slit them at the joint so clamp wont do much anyway ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Good pics man!
But I hit the next button on the gallery and came to a GS covered in snow! Just wrong, wrong, wrong. :P
Got my WileyCo and it looks good. Still working on my pipes though..darn rust!
;)
Thanks again!
OK next week I'll be making flanges. Last few days to order ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Hey Srinath,
got your flange to work after having to modify the holes that were out, but one thing I also noticed is that the thing is warped and doesnt bolt flat...so exhaust is coming out the side...so that sucks. Doubled up a gasket but still no good... :x Probably from the hole you torched for the pipe, why not have that hole cut too if they are already cutting the outside. Not sure what i'm going to do with this thing now...been more trouble than its worth!
OK It cannot be warped ... that round plate is really thick ... but its possible it had severe weld boogers and I didn't sand it well ... You try surface sanding it ... like put sand paper on the table and sit this on it and sand it ... and see what the pattern is ... I welded them on the bike ... if warped it will have bent itself out and looked obviously off ... I of course didn't test it for leaks after sanding was done outside in a vice and angle grinder ... send me a pic ... if it is warped ... I'll send you one from the next lot ...
And anyone else have trouble with them ... please post back or PM ...
Cool.
Srinath.
well i'll have to take the sucker off....maybe tomorrow night if I have time...but i'll show you for sure that its warped....with muffler bolted down...you can see light in between on one spot...so it is definitely out of wack... you can even see that it is bent out of shape. No weld boogers...those were ground down.
Hey Srinath, do I have to declare my flange now? I'm still waiting on my D&D pipe to arrive... you told me to send a check with the exhaust gasket - should I still do that, or should I pay you now?? I should have the exhaust this week...
pm'ed you earlier. just wanted to confirm my order for 1 flange with the restrictor/choke plate. thanks! let me know when you start production so that i can send the money.
Thrin - This week is fine, I wont sneakily cut them ... I want to put in as many as I can into this order and not have anyone left wanting them as well as any flanges left wanting people ... So no worries ... send me when you can, and you'll see the update on here well before i start on it.
Apbrian - Yea I got it Its fine. I Pmed you right ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Okay Srinath...here are the pics of the flange...clearly showing its warped..you can visually see it even! Seeing as how the gasket is about a 1/16th inch thick, that doesnt allow for any error.
So if you could send me a new one and check it first...the bolts holes and the plate to make sure its flat, that would be good. I'll PM you my address again. Oh and do you have any extra gaskets laying around...seeing as how mine is toast now that i had to take it apart.

Yea That really looks warped ... and I believe i know what happened ... the short side is the place of the warp ... and the pipe must have been sticking through and hitting the can and when it gets welded the short side obviously gets red hot ... and that would have allowed it to bend ... I'll be careful next time to cut the pipes flush after tacking so this wont happen ... and yes I'll make one and send you ... just send me that bolt pattern so we dont have to worry about that mismatching ... and BTW mark whihc is top and whihc is bottom on that drawing/pattern.
Cool.
Srinath.
i included a scan of the original gasket...now toast, as i had to scrape it off the flange(the other side is missing gasket material that stuck)...do you have extras? I cant find anyone that has metal embedded gasket material around here.
Top hole, bottom hole, side hole...doesnt make a difference, they are all equal distance..79 mm on center.
When can I expect a new one??
That gasket looks like its the same as the others ... whihc means My holes were off ... I do know they fit on a can when I welded it ... maybe the thing warped and pulled one or 2 of the holes out and I didn't notice ... Never mind ... I am going to start making it in a few days ... I'll send you the first one ... though all 10-12 of them will get made at same time most likely ... Gasket ... I'll see if the muffler place had them ... they shoudn;t be hard to find ... of if it fits well enough it shouldn't need a gasket ... heck D&D comes wihtout a gasket ... maybe I should do a centered with 1 inch of the header inside the can ... that will prevent the need for a gasket ... it prolly will make it impossible to restrict it ... but I should be able to cut off that 1 inch and restrict it ... OK I'll prolly do that, whihc means I cant bend the pipe same way ... but OK I'll think and let y'all know ...
Cool.
Srinath.
not sure what you mean in your post....the way it was is fine.
Well the pipe should be bent tighter and I can have a centered flange making for no narrow spots ... and if the head pipe is inside the can a bit the gasket is not absolutely needed ... I am still thinking ... the muffler shop guys were saying the SS will wrinkle more if bent tighter ... Lemme work it out ... I am still thinking about it ... OK to all others ... wont make any difference in the fit or use or performance ... its just maybe a way for me to clean up the process a bit and have fewer defects.
Cool.
Srinath.
are you still taking orders for the slip-on wileyco flanges? If not, are you thinking about doing a batch in the future?
How are the flanges comin?
I cut them monday. Taking the bike to the shop etc today ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Small delay - maybe 2 days max.... BTW wileyco's down to the last 24 ... like WTF ... seems to be never ending at DK ... no wonder they call him dennis Krook ... So you still have time. BTW I believe I will get ~ 12 in SS mid pipe, the rest will have to be steel mids ... the round part was always steel ... It holds paint etc better than SS ... so if anyone wats Steel say so and you'll get it ... I promise this time ... last time I said steel and made SS ... yea I like SS but say so and this time its off to the big house with ya ... for sure ... steel ...
Cool.
Srinath.
mine steel again...
make mine steel, I want to sand blast and paint the whole header black anyways.
thanks.
VFR
yup, whatever material high-temp paint will stick to. oh and don't forget to make mine with a restrictor plate in it.
-brian-
So it's not to late for this? If so I would like a flange.
I presume the Wileyco's are the ones on Ebay for $50?
ill take a steel one.
do you need a payment on those now?
thanks
Prepay yes. And not too late. Looks like we have more takers for steel ... I'll wait and see whihc way y'all go before I buy anything. Remember this is the last run for these. My welders time is going to be harder to get after the next month or so ... baby on the way in July. Might have to find another welder.
Cool.
Srinath.
flange + shipping + paypal = $48 total?
Better link to the exhaust can from Dennis Krook.

Cool.
Srinath.
Sinrath,
I'll take steel as well. I'll be painting the exhaust when i install it. Thanks!
Quick question:
Do you think i should drop in bigger mains than 127.5 with this setup? I have two washers on already...
Ok, I'll mail a check for $46 today.
Either is fine with me. :)

Okay - since it's the last chance, and I just got some new school loans, I'll take one. I suppose stainless would be better but I'm not picky.
Just think how much easier it will be to run away from bill collectors if you have a new exhaust!

Cool.
Srinath.
what would I need a restrictor for? is there anyway to get the dimensions of the flange to make my own? I have access to a flow jet, tubing bender and welding equipment. Im new to the site, I have an 89 gs with only cosmetic mods, I just bought the wileyco can yesterday.
no worries, srinath :thumb:
I have a paper due tomorrow (last one in my law school career ), an exam on Wednesday (last of my law school career ), a bar application to fill out and daily workouts to prepare for my Navy physical readiness test at the end of May.
In the words of Short Round, "no time for love, Dr. Jones!"
Looking forward to getting all this crap done in a few weeks and enjoying my newly re-habed GS :thumb:
Hey raylarrabee, congrats on law school! If all goes well I'll be a lawyer in a few weeks as well! (three finals and two papers though... 3rd year has sucked)

Well make a round plate and drill it to match the bolt pattern on the can, then take muffler pipe and bend it to fit your header at the bottom maybe and blow a big hole in the round plate with a torch, and weld the plate on the pipe wiht it all held in position on the bike. That's what I was doing.
Cool.
Srinath.
still time to order?
thinkin bout scrapin the dual exhaust idea :x
still not getin anywhear with it thou school ends in two weeks. then i'll be able to devote more time to it.
Srinath, sent paypal (I know you don't care for it Sorry) payment earlier today for flange w/choker.
Let me know if you got it, should be under jweather@columbus.rr.com
THANKS, BigTwin

what is the restrictor for? I'm also working on making rearsets. havent decided on material (ss -vs- alum). trying to find some dimensions on how far back and up to move them. I have access to a full fab shop (mig, tig, arc. flow jet, laser, lathe etc..) any help on dimensions for rearset, and restrictor would be great
Restrictor is for those that dont want to rejet Immediately ... when you do re jet, remove it ... knock it off with a hammer ... Just a square or round or other shaped plate put in 45 degrees with the flow so it cuts down some ... Noisy but not more flow ... I dunno if it really works well, but its sorta better than nothing, and heck stock was bad enough ... no need to make it worse fitting a WFO can ...
Cool.
Srinath.

dont count me in yet i'm still on the fence i was just checkin
Is it to late to get a flange? ifI can still get one, were do i send the money
Ktrim - Flange is still available, but closing fast ... Paypal (seshadri_srinath@hotmail.com, or check to Srinath Seshadri, 9227 swallow tail lane, Charlotte, NC 28269)
Quinnbozz - OK so you want me to make you a fence ... ...
And everyone - The flanges will probably be all steel ... I have SS material for like 12, and over 30 people and counting ... I'd like to have identical stuff so the shop guys can concentrate on having identical items turned out ... having 2 different materials will throw a kink in the thing ... I know I made SS before, but all were SS so we could sorta get it all close enough ...
And new thread is popping up with list ...
Cool.
Srinath.
money sent via paypal...

k i dont want to hold things up hear so
do NOT count me in :x this is what i get for hehawin around
sorry for the desterbince
I was gonna make you a FENCE Quinnboz ...
You not holding up anyhting ... But I do want to catch the entire lot, cos i am not making more ... Yea the ones that have flanges can now sell them for big bucks ... no more flanges comming ... maybe I should number them ... Under 100 total were made .. heck closer to 60 I think so really collectible, and the fact that the blood of sinners was used to flavor them ... simply precious ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Are they avail? I will pay pal in the morn if they still are will need one with choker
Its available but closing fast ...
Cool.
Srinath.
OK this is for anyone who wants to get a flange and wileyco ...
Some flanges are still available ...
Cool.
Srinath.
hey new to the post and i maybe to late, but are any flanges still available? id love to pick one up n send paypal asap.
i think srinath still has a couple left...read this thread too
http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17258&start=100
hey thanks hope to hear back from him if he has any available, im new to the whole motorcycle exhaust but have worked on exhuast on trucks and rice rockets, is it hard to install or wat is really needed to, i read past posts, but still lil confused, seems no welding needed just cut fit and bolting?
pretty much...cut the mid pipe, slipon the flange with the new exhaust bolted on. it shouls be a tight fit. weld or clamp is optional.
thanks lol thats wat i thought, hope to hear back from srinath if he has ne
Too many threads about these Wileycos. :? I have an 04F and wanted to put a can on. just want to verify that all I need is
1)The can (obviously)
2)Srinath's flange
All that is needed is a cut and it goes right on? No welding required 8)
no welding needed. Mine slipped on tight as a glove. Great seal betwen the can and the flange, too.
Still havent received mine yet, was it sent off?? :dunno:
Yours was Postal ... anyday now ... 5-8 days I believe they said ...
Cool.
Srinath.
raylarrabee - if the OEM exhaust is cut off, does he supply the pipe from the cut to the can? Maybe Flange-Master Srinath can bestow wisdom upon me!!! 8)
Quote from: Superman55raylarrabee - if the OEM exhaust is cut off, does he supply the pipe from the cut to the can? Maybe Flange-Master Srinath can bestow wisdom upon me!!! 8)
Yes. If my dog had not eaten the usb cable for my camera, I would take some pix for you. The "flange" slips onto the cut in the midpipe, has a bend that mirrors the stock pipe, and then ends in a circular plate with 3 tabs that mate up to the mounting bolt holes on the exhaust. I got a really good seal at both ends of the flange.
Try starting by cutting off less of the pipe than you think you need to. Then test fit and see how much more you need to cut off. You can always cut off more, but you can't make the midpipe longer if you cut off too much.
theres pics of it in the members bike gallery i believe
Hey Srinath,
Just got the flange today. The quality on this one is a hundred times better than the old one!! You must have someone else doing them now? Bends are nicer, no more big ass plate with hole blown threw it, welds are nicer, flange looks nice and flat. Just have to paint 'er and install.
Thanks for taking care of that...much better product now.

Yup ... The difference is I made 40 or so in 1 sitting ... so I had the means to tell the laser guy ... cut me this shape in that material ... and then walk into muffler shop and said make me 1 in this shape and if I like it ... we make 40 more just like it ... and then at the welders ... sat one weekend ... and had him get the setting up done etc and did them all without some clown draggin in a mini bike and some other moron bringing in a stair railing ... The oldies were like ... OK round things ... then we have to torch a hole in it ... and off set is better cos the damn muffler shop made weird shaped pipes that were just like stock ... I had to blow the hole big since it was anyway comming in crooked ... In essence yea completely different world ... but I should say ... you might have gotten particularly unlucky last run ... having gotten the worst of the lot ... :x ... not intentionally ... but sorry anyway ... Literally 3 times better and in 1/2 the time ... and saved me a chunk of $$ and had much fewer losses ...
Cool.
Srinath.
OK Pics are in this thread ... thanks Davipu ...
http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18007
Cut it where that pic says and fitted it looks like the one at the bottom ... yea 1/2 way down for cut pic ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Can anybody post a pic of what there bolt pattern is like on the can. Where my screws go in to the can, it is raised up. I don't know what your guys/girls look like so a pic would be great.
-BigTwin-

You're going to let your dog render your camera worthless? C'mon, pony up for a card reader!
From what I have gathered in other threads it is best to rejet when you change the air filter, and exhaust.
What if you just change the exhaust? will the bike really run that much diff without the jet kit? Yes or no will sway my decision on what project for my 04F is next. Thanks.
Oh and I am not going to attempt to rejet myself. :x Any volunteers??? :)
If 89-00 bike I'll jet it if you send me carbs ... 01+ ... OK I know what and how I think ... but no prior experience to throw at ya ...
Non re-jet is a flange with choker ... its removable and cuts flow enough to let you get by without immediate rejet.
Cool.
Srinath.
Cool. Srinath; Will a Wileyco for a 94-97 ZX7R work or does it have to be only the GSXR750? Thanks man
That ZX wileyco will work ...
Ironically ... many many years ago I found a can off a ZX7 at the junkrayd and the can was toast ... but the flange was OK ... I picked it up and thought maybe one day I'll fit a bolt on can on a GS and maybe this will be useful then ... It fits wileyco perfectly ... so ZX 7 = GSXR 750 ... and of course little did I know I'll crank out a 100 of them flanges ... So ZX 7 should fit ...
Cool.
Srinath.
So do I send payment first..? How will I know if I get a flange or not? :dunno:
