Title: primary balance of 90* v-twin
Post by: smoker on April 03, 2005, 09:56:12 PM
Unrelated to GS...sorry.  Been looking at the 650 V-Strom and found that "all 90-degree v-twins have perfect primary balance" and was just curious if anyone knows what exactly that means?   :dunno:  :dunno:

i'm pretty sure it means that the crank shaft, rods and pistons all naturally stay in balance with each other during the rotation of the motor, thus eliminating the need for a crankshaft counterbalancer.

I'm sure you will get a better explanation than that, but that's my understanding... less moving parts...lol
