Title: Which K&N to buy?
Post by: vfrocket on April 04, 2005, 03:16:40 PM
I want to re-jet my carb before i put on my wylieco can. Which K&N Filter should I buy? the Universal one that mounts to the carbs, or the one that fits in the stock air box, and remove the restrictor???

Thanks...

Well, you have 3 choices:

1) K&N "lunchbox", ru-2970

2)  K&N "pods", any two filters with 2-3/8" opening...not sure what other people are using but I just used some that I had for a kart and they happened to fit even tho they are ridiulously big...I'm a cheap bastard.

3)K&N for airbox

The lunhbox is the biggest bang for your buck.  I don't even know why people would use pods over the lunchbox...looks cooler?  Maybe not in my case...

My pods, as you can see a couple of vanes got a little crushed shoe-horning them in there...

Also, while you're in there jetting(for '89-00:  #150 mains, 3 turns out on air mix) I suggest that you put in some #40 pilots(find the kind without the 8 little holes in them...those are called the bleeder type...they are no good).  That will help your bike warm up faster...the stock pilots are the #37.5 which Suzuki put in only U.S. bikes to meet EPA emissions requirements.

speaking of emissions... do we (motorcyclists) have to have the tests?

Depends on where you live...I think only california requires bikes to do it.
Don't quote me on that tho.
