Does anybody know offhand, or have access to a manual that says what size allen wrench the front brake caliper bolts take? I forgot to bring the broken wrench with me and I'd like to stop my the local Home Despot on my way home from work to get an bit that will work.
Thanks.
allens for the caliper? the only allens I saw were on the rotor whare it bolts to the wheel. and those are 6mm.
the caliper bolts on the front are definitely allen-head bolts on mine. :dunno:

item number 14 in the diagram, right?
probably 6mm
That is what they are on my TL.
caliper bolts, we are talking about the bolts that hold the caliper to the fork leg.
14 mm HEX bolts on mine, sorry no allen info
Mine are 8mm. Just checked. That's proly '92 specific.
An allen socket extension is highly recommended for this application. Either that or throw a 1/2" piece of conduit over the allen wrench as a breaker bar. These were easily the tightest bolts I have encountered on my GS...maybe something to do with the vibrations...When I was trying to take them off all I had at my disposal was a T-handled allen wrench and it wasn't budging.
mine are 8mm
thanks, guys. I have a '92 and they are indeed 8mm. Got a cheap set of Stanley allen sockets at Walmart for like $12. I finally got the damn things off around 11pm tonight.
