Title: Stuck Pilot Jets
Post by: Kzin on April 15, 2005, 04:42:49 PM
Looks like the last person that had the carbs apart messed up the slot in the pilot jets....what can I do?  I can't get em out.

Left handed drill bits ... send it here and I'll get it for say $10. Yea I sent your stuff like 2 days ago ... sorry about delay ... but I am running low on carb parts of late. Time to raid some wreckers I guess.
Cool.
Srinath.

mine were stuck when I re-built my carb. The left handed drill bits are good, but what worked for me was I put my srewdriver on the slot of the jets as best I could, then tapped the screwdriver with a hammer a few times. This forced the screwdriver into the jets because they are soft and made of brass. and whala.. they came right out.

just be carful not to nick the carb body with the scredriver blade as they are made of soft aluminium as well.....

If you are not comfortable with the hammer method use the left hand bits...or an EZ-out....

I did basically the same thing that vfrocket did, except I used a small 'jewelers' phillips head screwdriver for my 'homemade extractor'

I tapped it right into the center of the jet, applied a bit of leverage using a pair of pliers, and bingo!

I got the parts srinath.  Thanks alot!  The place I bought mains sent me small round instead of large round  :x

I've been waiting for these things for a week and they're wrong...

I'll try the hammer method and if  that doesn't work, the left handed bit.
