Title: GEAR
Post by: roma258 on April 18, 2005, 10:25:52 AM
Hey, so now that I have my GS I'm looking to buy some gear. Any suggestion where to look for quality motorcycle gear at a decent price? I know it's probably wrong to try to do it on the cheap, but I don't want to go broke ether. Any help is appreciated.

I'll second newenough, they are good people.

I have had good luck with Ebay and  Craigslist too.

Dealers occasionly have stuff on sale, but they make a lot of money off accessories and their prices aren't usually the best.

Newenough.com has stuff listed on E-bay for really good prices.  They have the best customer service in the business.

newenough is great.  Excellent prices and excellent customer service.

I got Fieldsheer gear when I bought my bike.  They seemed to offer good armor (dual-density and "GP-style" armor) in their jackets and pants at low prices.   I haven't had a get-off (yet) so, thankfully, I can't comment on it's real-world efficacy.

If you need to try stuff on to see if it fits, try looking in the phone book for motorcycle shops near you, just to try stuff on, then you'll know what size to order from newenough.

That looks pretty cool.

I got a Joe Rocket Ballistic textile jacket fromt here.  I think it looks good and seems to be well made (though others may disagree).  It would be a good option if you want to go a little cheaper.

Yes, Newenough owns. I bought all my gear there and, while I can't vouch for the durability of textile, since I haven't crashed yet, I chose textile over leathers (Joe Rocket Nova jacket) over leathers because during the summer I thought (rightly so) that leathers would get hot and give me an excuse not  to wear them. So I bought textile so it would be cooler in the summer and help make sure I would wear it. But whatever you want to buy, buy it through Newenough.
